Who owns Grubhub?

Just Eat Takeaway owns Grubhub and is considered its parent organization. Grubhub was founded in 2004 by Mike Evans and Matt Maloney to create an alternative to paper menus.

In 2007, received $1.1 million in Series A funding from Amicus Capital and Origin Ventures with the purpose of expanding to the New York and San Francisco markets.

Subsequently, the company received an additional $2 million in funding in 2009 from Origin Ventures and Leo Capital, soon followed with $11 million from Benchmark Capital. And finally in 2011, Grubhub received $20 million in funding from DAG Ventures, and later that year received $50 million in funding while also acquiring Dotmenu.

Grubhub has acquired many additional brands including Seamless, AllMenus, MenuPages, LevelUp, and Tapingo.

In 2020, Netherlands-based Just Eat Takeaway bought Grubhub for $7.3 billion in stock. That same year Grubhub had an annual revenue of $1.82 billion.
