Why should we hire you for customer service?

Before you prepare your answer, look at the job description and see what the employer is emphasizing as requirements. What will it take to get the job done? Make a list of those requirements and do an inventory of your skills and how you meet them. What makes you a perfect fit? Think of 2 to 3 key qualities that fit what they are looking for.

Use their list of requirements and your list of matching skills to create a summary statement. This will be your elevator pitch. It should be no more than 2 minutes long and stress the traits that make you the perfect match for the job.

A sample answer could include:

I have been working in customer support for the last 3 years. My high energy and quick learning style enable me to hit the ground running and rapidly size up problems and identify solutions. I have the ability to stay focused in stressful situations and can be counted on when the going gets tough.

I am passionate about my work and have a proven track record of providing exceptional service to my customers. In my prior role, I have focused on providing support to our customers and motivating my team members to do the best for our customers as well. As a result, our churn rate decreased by 14%.
