Why study humanities?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Apr. 25, 2023

You should study humanities as it enhances your ability to understand human culture, what binds us together, and what differentiates us from each other, and it can prepare you for several different careers.

The humanities provide practical applications of this knowledge that can benefit various careers.

While many majors have a direct link to a career, such as accounting and managing accounts, the humanities do not have this. Rather than being a direct link, they supply students with valuable knowledge they can use for various career paths, making it a particularly versatile major.

Humanities is a great major for people looking into studying law or political science. It is great preparation for law school. It also helps to bring perspective to many other careers. If you gain experience during your time in humanities, there is not much you cannot do with a degree in humanities.
