BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of general maintenance work, which contributes to the upkeep and care of the parks, buildings and facilities. This is accomplished by maintaining the appearance and safety of the grounds, cleaning in and around all buildings and areas. Ensuring the readiness for play of the athletic fields, maintaining the appearance and safety of the playground and picnic areas and maintaining the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities. Also, maintaining the safe and efficient operation of equipment and completing related work as assigned.

5 H Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities by removing litter, emptying trash barrels, removing broken glass, and cleaning the bathrooms.
6 H Maintains the safe and efficient operation of equipment by sharpening blades, performing basic maintenance such as oiling parts and replenishing gasoline and oil, and repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts.
7 H Completes administrative tasks by completing routine and special assignments which could include delivering parts, equipment and supplies to crews, assisting in the storeroom, and picking up and delivering mail.

What You'll Do:
Our Public Services Department is currently recruiting Groundskeepers to perform routine skilled maintenance and related
work on City-owned cemeteries using specialized equipment. This position reports to the Cemetery Parks Supervisor.
Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Performs and assists in cemetery park maintenance including mowing, edging, pruning, trimming, spraying, watering, planting and general care of grass, plants and trees.
* Operates tractors and various power equipment to mow and maintain the park.

Position Summary
The Landscape Maintenance Gardener works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Crew Leader, acting as the primary source of labor to perform various tasks related to the maintenance of the landscaped grounds. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities
Plant flowers and shrubs; grade, seed, and fertilize.
Remove weeds, debris, and other materials from job sites.
Manually water lawns, shrubs, ground covers and flowers; make irrigation adjustments.
Help clean and prepare vehicles for the next service day; inspect equipment before use to ensure proper and safe operation and report problems to the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor.
Immediately report unsafe work conditions or practices to the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Basic knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques and methods; basic proficiency using hand tools; ability to recognize the signs of basic plant stress; focus on working safely and efficiently.

As an employee of the CA Military Department (CMD), you are required to perform the "essential functions" of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. * This position may/may not be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the CMD and based on the current telework policy. While the CMD supports telework where possible, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.

Certified in the application of pesticides and eradication of undesirable vegetation: Qualified Applicator License (QAL) and Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) (will send qualified applicants to training for certification if necessary).

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
