Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical interface between the imaging payload and spacecraft bus, ensuring compatibility and joint performance optimization across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and data interfaces.
Lead and participate in system-level trades to evaluate design alternatives, performance vs. cost/risk trade-offs, and technology insertion opportunities.
Assess and troubleshoot emerging payload and bus designs down to the circuit level using your electrical engineering background.
Support radiation analysis and mitigation strategies for electronics in space environments, collaborating with design teams to guide EEE parts selection and architecture-level protections.
Perform or review signal and power integrity analyses, and ensure adherence to space-qualified electrical standards (MIL-STD, ECSS, NASA standards, etc.).
Model and evaluate payload-level power, data, and timing interactions and contribute to electrical interface control documentation (ICDs).
Participate in the evaluation of emerging technologies, COTS/FoS (Commercial/Flyable off the Shelf) hardware, and new mission concepts with an eye toward system-level integration feasibility.
Contribute to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and work across disciplines to ensure the payload systems meet performance, reliability, and environmental constraints.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active secret Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain secret clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience working with space-based optical remote sensing payloads, especially within LEO missions.
Proven experience in electrical systems engineering for space platforms, including familiarity with radiation effects on electronic systems and parts derating/qualification processes.
Demonstrated experience with spacecraft-payload interface development, electrical interface analysis, and supporting cross-functional teams across the space segment.
Ability to interpret and analyze schematics, block diagrams, and PCB layouts, and perform system-level implications analysis from hardware-level changes.
Demonstrated familiarity with current and emerging FPGA, processor, and memory technologies.
Previous experience working across payload, spacecraft, and ground teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
Experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, STK, SPICE, HFSS, or signal integrity/power analysis software.
Familiarity with imaging payloads (visible, multispectral, or hyperspectral), data processing requirements, and performance metrics (SNR, MTF, etc.).
Experience with fault management, redundancy architectures, and design for reliability in long-duration space missions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering Sales Support
Application Engineers will provide internal support for engineer sales staff. Assistance shall include working directly with Sales Engineers and interacting with Consulting Engineers who are CFM Company's engineering customers.
Application Engineers shall support the engineering sales process with product and system questions, equipment selections, specification updates, system layouts, and the general assistance necessary to support the engineering sales process.
Sharing of work load will be necessary and Application Engineers shall manage this workload to insure prompt and accurate response and proper technical support.
Contractor Sales Support
Application Engineers will have responsibility to support contractor sales staff in selection, application and pricing of engineered products and special design requests.
Application Engineers will assist contractor sales with generating and reviewing submittals for engineered products. When necessary, Application Engineers will assist with the Consulting Engineers review of submittals.
Application Engineers will assist contractor sales on technical matters that may require application support (i.e. product application support where Engineering has not clearly addressed all application questions)
General Application Support
Application Engineers shall actively support the proper application of technologies in any phase of a project including preconstruction, design, purchase and installation, and post-installation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a clerical office setting. Occasional out-of-office work may include visits to customers' offices, job site visits, and factory training sessions.

In all other markets, the base salary pay range for Consultant level is $96,000-$135,000 and for Senior Consultant level it is $110,000-$155,000.

What we need you to bring to the team:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering, automation engineering, or related field
2+ years of experience in an industry setting working on electrical engineering, control systems engineering, automation engineering, or related projects (excluding internships, co-ops and other school projects)
Familiarity with high voltage and low voltage electrical design and troubleshooting
Experience designing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting control and data acquisition systems
Experience with instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, level, weight, and flow
Knowledge of industrial automation communication protocols, including Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, RS485, and related standards
Programming experience in Python, JavaScript, C/C++, or equivalent languages
Familiarity with electrical safety practices and standards

Compensation:
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $90,000-$99,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
