The Outside Sales Engineer position requires a diverse knowledge of applications and equipment. Montana is a package market for bidding which requires a strong understanding of all HVAC system types and how to integrate equipment into them. The Outside Sales Engineer will have the opportunity to build relationships with manufacturers, owners, and contractors managing accounts and bidding projects in Montana, Wyoming, national accounts, and international accounts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manages multiple, ongoing, projects focusing on selling HVAC equipment, service and systems. Builds partnering relationships with owners and consulting engineers while understanding the customer's business needs. Utilize manufacturer selections program to build out and influence system design, selections, and solutions with customers. Create competitive, high quality and timely estimates, bids, proposals, and cost/benefit analysis. Manage the equipment estimation and bid execution of HVAC projects to ensure consistency in closing sales through effective communication and support. Project manages and oversees the sales process, working with S. Conley project management and estimation team to determine project requirements, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the customer's system design, installation and maintenance expectations. Keeps management informed of progress and account status. Knows when to call for assistance from upper management to keep the sales process moving Demonstrates technical expertise as the subject matter expert in equipment by driving the building operations document and selection. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology (MET) or related field desired but not required. Experience in designing, specifying, budgeting, and selection is preferred. Strong focus in building customer relationships and solid understanding of the sales process. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Must be proficient in HVAC selection software or related CRM/ERP system. We're scaling fast, and we need someone who can own the full stack - from backend architecture to frontend UX - and thrive in the wild terrain of a high-growth SaaS company. If you get excited about building software solutions end-to-end, AI integration, and shipping features that make customers say “damn, that's slick,” this might be your new favorite job. Role & Responsibilities Own new and existing features end-to-end. This includes understanding the user pain points, identifying a technical solution, designing, building, documenting, testing, supporting and educating. Creating internal reporting tools to monitor performance of the application and insight into customer usage. Continuously learn and adapt - AI mastery is a must. We use Cursor, but if you find another flow that works for you, that's just fine! Work with third-party platforms to build and maintain integrations. This may include emails, meetings, etc. It should go without saying, but we DO care about code quality! Your code should always keep future objectives and developers in mind. Contribute to product strategy, helping prioritize engineering work that moves the business forward. Occasional customer support. Qualifications & Requirements 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience, ideally within a startup environment or SaaS company. Strong proficiency with React, especially prior to v18. Significant Python and/or PHP experience (Laravel, Django, Flask). Experience with both SQL and non-SQL databases. We use MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar), Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices architecture. You have opinions when it comes to structuring internal APIs for a React frontend. You are comfortable working in ambiguity. You can take loosely scoped User Stories and turn them into a feature that delights users. Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward action - you don't wait to be told what's broken; you find and fix it. Bonus Points: Experience with AI integrations (OpenAI, vector databases, LangChain, etc.) Experience with messaging or communications platforms (Gmail API, Twilio, WhatsApp Business, etc.) Familiarity with analytics tools (PostHog, Segment, or similar).
