Your responsibilities Establish new customer contacts and maintain existing ones, securing future sales mainly related to quantum computing Represent Zurich Instruments at trade shows and visit customers worldwide with a focus on GermanyProvide application-specific customer support, including on-site system integration Refine key product features of our arbitrary waveform generators, quantum analyzers and other quantum stack products, thus helping to strengthen and secure Zurich Instruments' position as a technology leader Perform acceptance testing of the QCCS to meet scientific requirements Produce material such as product documentation, website content, blog posts, application notes, videos, etc.

Your profile Ph.D. in Physics with relevant background in quantum technologies Solid scientific track record with years of practical lab experience, including RF/microwave signal generation and measurement Experience in controlling and automating complex experiments, preferentially with PythonSales experience and/or an interest to develop your skills in this area Excellent oral and written communication skills; fluency in English is a must Entrepreneurial spirit and know-how of basic marketing strategies are an advantage

Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST), a growing scientific and high technology company, is seeking a Satellite Sea Surface Salinity Applications Scientist to support NOAA Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR).

This position is located in College Park, but is temporarily approved for telework due to Covid-19. A hybrid model of onsite and telework each week will likely be put in place in the coming months.

The individual in this position will be a member of the satellite Sea-surface Salinity (SSS) Science Team, responsible for the development of SSS applications employing observations from ESA's SMOS mission and NASA's SMAP mission

Develop an approach for reconciling high-latitude satellite skin salinity observations with near-surface bulk salinity to enable assimilation of high-latitude satellite SSS observations

Exploring/develop assimilation of satellite altimetry observations for improved model representation of thermohaline circulation and ocean heat content

Characterize the freeze/melt temperature for sea ice as a direct function of ocean surface water salinity; and supporting marine ecosystem assessments and modeling efforts through the exploitation of satellite SSS observations
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
Ph.D. in a quantitative field of research (Physics, Math, Statistics, Remote Sensing, Oceanography, Meteorology) completed by date of hire Solid quantitative educational background (fundamental Physics, Math, Statistics) Strong scientific analytical skills with detail-oriented working style Proficiency with computational programming (Fortran, MATLAB, IDL, Python, etc.) and scripting (Unix/Linux) Proven list of deliverables (peer-reviewed publications, derived products, etc.) Willingness and ability to conduct independent research (from problem definition to technical solution to documentation in peer-reviewed literature) while being a team player
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with SSS retrieval algorithms and SSS data sets; Experience with assessing salinity impacts and dependencies in geophysical processes and ecological systems, as well as SSS utility as a predictor for Earth-system processes; Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning techniques; Proficiency with global data handling and quality control procedures; Familiarity with radiative transfer modeling, particularly for the L band.

The Scientist II performs analysis, research, development, testing, documentation, and introduction of new products and/or materials in support of Restek’s growth goals and strategic plan. This position also provides technical expertise and supports interactions with internal and external scientific community to provide Restek with new technologies, ideas for new products, and improvements to existing products.

1. Lead and perform research and evaluation of new and/or existing products, technology and processes and execute independent research plans as assigned. Identify new product opportunities and improvements to existing products.

2. Perform experiments and collect data to support products within assigned area. Develop, prototype, and test new products and/or materials utilizing current analytical methods, techniques and instrumentation as appropriate. Ensure that products and materials are of sufficient quality and quantity to meet production demand.

3. Document all steps, experiments and/or procedures in the development process as required and write experience reports detailing experimental design, results and conclusions. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness. Communicate progress on projects through monthly reports and at staff meetings. Develop new product instruction sheets, specifications, and testing parameters as necessary and circulate for review and comment with the appropriate departments. Provide required documentation for the NPD Stage-Gate process.

4. Support the transfer new products to manufacturing and monitor performance so that processes, quality, documentation, and training can be evaluated and validated. .

5. Prepare written articles and/or generate publishable data for use by the marketing and technical service areas, and review literature used to market Restek products. Represent Restek at conferences and technical meetings, including preparing and conducting technical presentations.

6. Participate in continuous learning and education to keep current with industry and grow knowledge and skills in area of work.

7. Practice safe working procedures and follow guidelines specified by the Environmental Health and Safety Department, especially when working in production and laboratory areas. Understand the safe handling of materials and the quality of processes under the domain of the job responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science with at least 5 years of laboratory experience or a Master’s degree in related science.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Competent understanding of basic processes and core responsibilities with the ability to select work. Cross knowledge in at least one area outside of the assigned area. Understanding and application of chromatography theory/principles. Ability to interact with customers at a higher level of expertise. Ability to organize, prepare, and present oral and written communications with supervisory oversight. Ability to present departmental metrics as well as any corrective actions. Knowledge of chemical safety, composition, structure, & properties, including uses of chemicals.
