How will you make an impact?
You will be responsible for development of pioneering methods and protocols for cryo FIB milling with plasma FIB (pFIB) within the electron Cryo-Electron Tomography (Cryo-ET) and Volume EM workflows, using our groundbreaking Arctis and Hydra Bio cryo-plasma-FIBs. You will coordinate applications development for our cryo-FIB projects with our collaborators in a world-class cryo-imaging lab. Your role will involve cryo FIB milling to prepare cellular lamella and optimizing methods for sample preparation, with the ultimate goal of performing cryo-Electron Tomography on our Krios cryo-Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) instruments. Additionally, you will develop methods and workflows for volume imaging of high pressure frozen cellular and tissue samples using cryo Auto Slice & View and related technologies on the pFIB dual beam systems. You will build a network within the scientific community through collaborations with new and leading customers and help shape the future of cryo EM.
Deliverables and responsibilities:
Develop and evaluate FIB milling and volume imaging strategies with plasma FIB on cells and tissues. Work with collaborators for training users (on site and remotely) and develop and implement proof of concept experiments with challenging samples. Your contributions will support directly the customer's scientific endeavor as well as feed directly into new product development at Thermo Fisher.

Support R&D, product development, marketing, and sales by lending applications expertise.

How to get here:
This position is ideal for an expert in focused ion beam (FIB) electron microscopy, ideally with a familiarity in both cryo-FIB milling and TEM sample preparation. Strong technical understanding of FIB theory and technology as well as experience with Plasma FIB instrumentation is a crucial requirement. A background or experience with biological questions and samples is desirable but not a requirement for the role.
Education, experience, skills, abilities:
An advanced degree (e.g .PhD, MSc) in the fields of Physics, Biophysics and related or equivalent fields.
Demonstrated in-depth experience in TEM sample preparation with plasma FIB milling as well as a deep understanding of FIB technology. Knowledge of soft matter samples, with cryogenic conditions and biological specimen is a plus.
Having prior experience with TEM instruments is advantageous.

Salary Range

Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Responsibilities:
Develop and manage updates of trial documents related to clinical supplies
Develop training materials for clinical supply training sessions for clinical trial sites and CROs (if applicable) and manage the training material updates
Collaborate both internally and externally to facilitate clinical trial site activities to ensure sites are ready for dose administration at site activation and throughout the trial
Lead the efforts to conduct training sessions related to clinical materials and supplies
Serve as the clinical development representative to work with Clinical Supply Management in supply management, demand forecasting, shipment operation/logistics, etc.

Position Summary
The Office of Research Development seeks a Graduate Hourly - Research Development in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR). This is a fully remote, year-round, part-time position. This role will assist in identifying and cataloging research-related funding opportunity announcements, news stories, and event announcements relevant to the UIC research enterprise.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Conduct funding opportunity searches and curate funding opportunity lists in Pivot.
* Collect funding opportunity announcements, news stories and event announcements from diverse sources including UIC campus/unit and funder websites and email newsletters (listservs).
* On a weekly basis, compile and organize newly released limited submission funding opportunities in a shared document.
* On a weekly basis, compile and organize non-limited funding opportunity announcements, news stories and event announcements in a shared document.
* Assist with other projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Must currently be enrolled in a graduate program at UIC.
* Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellent written and interpersonal communications skills; are able to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks to meet strict weekly deadlines and are able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
* Preference will be given to candidates with experience in reading and analyzing funding opportunity solicitations

Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant AI/ML libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers. Experience with LLM serving technologies such as vLLM is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position is $148,240 - $218,000. You will also be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus and Company equity.
