Auto-ApplyEngineering Manager - Product & Platform
Remote applications engineer/product manager job
About Arize
AI is rapidly transforming the world. As generative AI reshapes industries, teams need powerful ways to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize their AI systems. That's where we come in. Arize AI is the leading AI & Agent Engineering observability and evaluation platform, empowering AI engineers to ship high-performing, reliable agents and applications. From first prototype to production scale, Arize AX unifies build, test, and run in a single workspace-so teams can ship faster with confidence.
We're a Series C company backed by top-tier investors, with over $135M in funding and a rapidly growing customer base of 150+ leading enterprises and Fortune 500 companies. Customers like Booking.com, Uber, Siemens, and PepsiCo leverage Arize to deliver AI that works.
Why this role matters
Arize AX is the AI & Agent Engineering Platform - one place to develop, evaluate, and operate AI at scale. From tracing and evaluators to experiments and monitoring, we help AI teams close the loop between development and production.
The platform is already running at real scale - trillions of spans per month, tens of millions of evals, and millions of OSS downloads - and adoption is only accelerating. To keep up, we need engineering leaders who can move fluidly between building product-facing experiences and scaling backend systems.
This is not a narrow “frontend EM” or “infra EM” role. It's a hybrid - product-engineering meets backend/infrastructure - for someone who enjoys solving hard technical problems while also growing people and driving projects.
What you'll do
Contribute as an engineer on complex product and infrastructure challenges - building features that customers touch and scaling the systems behind them. One week you may be reviewing designs for a new workflow in the UI, the next digging into performance bottlenecks in the query layer.
Lead a team of engineers and tech leads - hiring, mentoring, and creating the conditions for them to do the best work of their careers.
Drive projects end-to-end - ensuring scope is clear, trade-offs are well understood, and delivery is predictable.
Work cross-functionally with Product and Design to set direction, and with Solutions and Support to make sure we're solving the real problems our customers face in production.
What success looks like
Your team ships impactful features and infrastructure improvements reliably - without burning out.
Systems and workflows you touch become more scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
Engineers you manage are growing into broader scope and leadership.
Product, Design, Solutions, and Support see you as a trusted partner who helps turn customer needs into product reality.
What we're looking for
You've been both an IC and a manager - you know what great engineering looks like at the system and code level, and you know how to build and lead teams.
Strength across both product/fullstack engineering and backend/infrastructure - comfortable moving between customer-facing workflows and the systems that power them.
Experience balancing people leadership, project execution, and technical depth.
Clear, direct communicator who builds trust across teams.
Bonus points
Prior founder or early-stage builder - comfortable creating clarity in ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.
Experience with open standards like OpenTelemetry or OpenInference, or contributing to OSS.
Background in ML/LLM infrastructure, observability, or evaluation tools.
A track record of building developer platforms or enterprise products that engineers love to use.
Why Arize
Mission - help teams build AI that actually works in the real world.
Scale - systems operating at trillions of spans and tens of millions of evals per month.
Growth - join at an inflection point and help shape both the product and the team.
The estimated annual salary and variable compensation for this role is between $180,000 - $250,000 USD, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is determined based upon a variety of job related factors that may include: transferable work experience, skill sets, and qualifications. Total compensation also includes a comprehensive benefit package, including: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, unlimited paid time off, generous parental leave plan, and others for mental and wellness support.

You'll take ownership of a roadmap area end-to-end - partnering with Product and Design to shape scope, then guiding your team through architecture, execution, quality, and launch.
This role is ideal for a leader who's shipped at millions-of-users scale, thrives in fast-moving environments, and can go deep technically in Linux systems internals and/or cloud systems engineering - you have experience building cloud platforms (control planes, orchestration, networking, storage primitives, kubernetes components), not just applications running on top of them. You'll help Runpod deliver the fastest, most intuitive path for builders to train and deploy AI in production.
Responsibilities
Own Feature Delivery for a Product Area: Lead a team of engineers responsible for shipping new functionality and iterating existing product surfaces. Deliver predictable, high-velocity outcomes that improve customer experience and business value.
Plan and Execute Roadmaps: Translate product strategy into clear technical plans, milestones, and success metrics. Identify tradeoffs early and manage scope, risk, and timelines.
Technical Leadership & Architecture: Drive pragmatic system design for product-layer services and workflows, ensuring scalability, performance, and consistency with Runpod's platform.
Build and Grow a Strong Team: Hire, mentor, and develop engineers; set expectations, provide feedback, and create a culture of ownership, speed, and craft in a remote-first environment.
Quality & Reliability for Product Surfaces: Improve automated testing, release safety, observability for customer-facing systems, and regression prevention. Ensure on-call health for your team's services.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner tightly with Product, Program management, Support, GTM, and Infrastructure counterparts. Coordinate dependencies cleanly while maintaining clear ownership.
Operational Excellence: Establish team rituals and delivery systems (sprints/kanban, retros, design reviews). Use data to improve cycle time, throughput, and feature adoption.
Customer-Driven Execution: Stay close to user needs by incorporating feedback, analytics, and support signals into prioritization and iteration.
Requirements
Engineering Management Experience: 2+ years managing a team of high performance software engineers, including ownership of roadmap delivery, hiring/firing, performance, and team culture.
High-Scale Product Delivery: 6+ years as a software engineer building and shipping products used by millions of users, with clear evidence of personal impact.
Systems-Level Technical Depth: Strong experience with Linux systems internals and/or cloud systems engineering - ideally building platform capabilities (orchestration, control planes, distributed services, networking or storage layers).
Backend or Full-Stack Proficiency: Comfortable reviewing and contributing to code in modern stacks; Go, Python, and/or TypeScript experience preferred.
Distributed/Cloud-Native Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices, APIs, eventing, data stores, and service-to-service communication patterns.
Delivery & Metrics Mindset: Experience running execution processes and using metrics like cycle time, throughput, adoption, and escape defects to improve team flow.
Remote-First Leadership: Proven ability to communicate clearly, align stakeholders asynchronously, and sustain momentum across time zones.
Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building AI/ML + developer platforms, workflow-heavy products, or infrastructure-adjacent product layers (e.g., job orchestration UX, deployment flows, usage/billing, observability surfaces).
Familiarity with Kubernetes-based platforms, container runtimes, scheduling concepts, or GPU/accelerator workflows.
Track record of scaling teams in high-growth environments while keeping quality high.
Open-source contributions in cloud-native, systems, or ML-adjacent projects.
What You'll Receive:
The competitive base pay for this position ranges from ($175,000 - $250,000). This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Runpod and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location
