The AWS Security Engineer will support UMGC by ensuring the security of its AWS cloud infrastructure and applications. The resource will design, implement, and maintain security controls, conduct assessments, and provide ongoing monitoring and response. The contractor will collaborate with cross- functional teams to embed security best practices and lead initiatives to strengthen the organization's cloud security posture. This resource reports to the Manager, Information Security.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud security controls (IAM, VPC, S3, KMS, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Security Hub).
Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses; recommend and implement mitigations.
Monitor and respond to security events; support incident response and forensic investigations.
Automate security processes and integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines.
Develop and maintain AWS security policies, procedures, and documentation.
Train engineers on secure coding practices and AWS security standards.
Lead AWS-focused security roadmap projects and ensure compliance with frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, ITIL, COBIT).
Collaborate with IT, engineering, and vendors to ensure secure design, deployment, and operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years AWS security engineering experience with deep knowledge of AWS services (IAM, VPC, KMS, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Security Hub, etc.).
AWS Security or Architect certifications preferred.
Experience with cloud security principles (network segmentation, IAM, encryption, monitoring).
Proficiency with scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Strong background in vulnerability management, incident response, and security assessments.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (PCI, GDPR, GLBA, CMMC, etc.).
Familiarity with secure software development lifecycle, code reviews, and API security.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently, lead initiatives, and mentor others when needed.

We are seeking a Databricks Engineer to design, build, and operate a Data & AI platform with a strong foundation in the Medallion Architecture (raw/bronze, curated/silver, and mart/gold layers). This platform will orchestrate complex data workflows and scalable ELT pipelines to integrate data from enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, D2L, and Salesforce, delivering high-quality, governed data for machine learning, AI/BI, and analytics at scale.
You will play a critical role in engineering the infrastructure and workflows that enable seamless data flow across the enterprise, ensure operational excellence, and provide the backbone for strategic decision-making, predictive modeling, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Data & AI Platform Engineering (Databricks-Centric):
Design, implement, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines on Databricks, following the Medallion Architecture principles.
Build robust and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Spark and Delta Lake to transform raw (bronze) data into trusted curated (silver) and analytics-ready (gold) data layers.
Operationalize Databricks Workflows for orchestration, dependency management, and pipeline automation.
Apply schema evolution and data versioning to support agile data development.
Platform Integration & Data Ingestion:
Connect and ingest data from enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, D2L, and Salesforce using APIs, JDBC, or other integration frameworks.
Implement connectors and ingestion frameworks that accommodate structured, semi- structured, and unstructured data.
Design standardized data ingestion processes with automated error handling, retries, and alerting.
Data Quality, Monitoring, and Governance:
Develop data quality checks, validation rules, and anomaly detection mechanisms to ensure data integrity across all layers.
Integrate monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Databricks metrics, Grafana) to track ETL performance, latency, and failures.
Implement Unity Catalog or equivalent tools for centralized metadata management, data lineage, and governance policy enforcement.
Security, Privacy, and Compliance:
Enforce data security best practices including row-level security, encryption at rest/in transit, and fine-grained access control via Unity Catalog.
Design and implement data masking, tokenization, and anonymization for compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, FERPA).
Work with security teams to audit and certify compliance controls.
AI/ML-Ready Data Foundation:
Enable data scientists by delivering high-quality, feature-rich data sets for model training and inference.
Support AIOps/MLOps lifecycle workflows using MLflow for experiment tracking, model registry, and deployment within Databricks.
Collaborate with AI/ML teams to create reusable feature stores and training pipelines.
Cloud Data Architecture and Storage:
Architect and manage data lakes on Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) or Amazon S3, and design ingestion pipelines to feed the bronze layer.
Build data marts and warehousing solutions using platforms like Databricks.
Optimize data storage and access patterns for performance and cost-efficiency.
Documentation & Enablement:
Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and runbooks for all pipelines and components.
Provide training and enablement sessions to internal stakeholders on the Databricks platform, Medallion Architecture, and data governance practices.
Conduct code reviews and promote reusable patterns and frameworks across teams.
Reporting and Accountability:
Submit a weekly schedule of hours worked and progress reports outlining completed tasks, upcoming plans, and blockers.
Track deliverables against roadmap milestones and communicate risks or dependencies.
Required Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Apache Spark for large-scale data engineering.
Deep understanding of ELT pipeline development, orchestration, and monitoring in cloud-native environments.
Experience implementing Medallion Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and working with data versioning and schema enforcement in enterprise grade environments.
Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or Scala for data transformations and workflow logic.
Proven experience integrating enterprise platforms (e.g., PeopleSoft, Salesforce, D2L) into centralized data platforms.
Familiarity with data governance, lineage tracking, and metadata management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for metadata management and access control.
Experience deploying ML models at scale using MLFlow or similar MLOps tools.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS, including storage, security, and networking aspects.
Knowledge of data warehouse design and star/snowflake schema modeling.

Responsibilities
Develop solutions using Salesforce platform
Build and run custom demonstrations and deliver Proof of Concepts (POC) using Salesforce
Ensure the Salesforce.com technical design aligns to overall enterprise architecture and scales well
Develop and author technical business solutions, product presentations, and demonstrations
Work in cross-functional teams with a solution-focused mindset.
Adherence to AccelerEd DevOps and change management process, including Attendance at daily scrum meetings.
Documentation of processes, errors, and changes.
Evaluation and installation of new Salesforce releases, including training and support.
Maintenance of Service Cloud, including case management and omni-channel.
Management of Salesforce roles, profiles, sharing rules, advanced flows, and groups.
Development of Advanced Flow based automation including Screen flows, Auto launched Flows, and Omni-Channel flows.
Optimization of Salesforce systems and products.
Performance of database maintenance tasks and diagnostic tests.
Workforce planning management and direction provided by the AccelerEd team.
The Sr. Salesforce resources routine eight (8) hour work schedule shall accommodate AccelerEd's normal business operating hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm ET
Participation in 15-day AccelerEd Sprints with 2 days for planning, retrospective, and buffer time, and 13 working days to complete tasks.
Complete 2 points per day per developer during sprints to track progress.
Requirements Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)
3-5 years of experience in Salesforce release management, ideally across multiple Salesforce orgs
3-5 years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator or Developer
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline management, preferably with Copado or similar tools
Practical experience with Salesforce deployments (change sets, ANT migration, Salesforce DX)
Familiarity with SDLC and Agile methodologies (sprints, scrums, backlog management)
Solid understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality
Required Qualifications
Salesforce Certified Administrator
Copado Fundamentals I certification (Fundamentals II preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Salesforce Platform App Builder or Developer certification
Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, ADO)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills during release cycles
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
