In 1996, AGBAR Automotive was set up as a subsidiary of the Aguas de Barcelona (AGBAR) Group to diversify the company and enter the business of statutory vehicle inspection.
2000 The company enters the US market through the acquisition of Keating, the market leader in vehicle-emissions control.
2001 RTD established its first operations in the US during this year, establishings its roots in Houston, Texas.
In 2003, the Applus+ brand was launched globally.
2004 Applus+ acquires SOLUZIONA Calidad y Medio Ambiente (Applus+ Norcontrol and Novotec), becoming Spain’s largest industrial and environmental inspection and technical assistance company.
2005 Applus+ acquires Applus+ Bilsyn, the Danish public-owned vehicle-inspection company, which currently has 125 inspection centres.
2006 Applus+ acquires K1, Finland's second-largest vehicle-inspection company performing 20% of the country's inspections.
2007 Acquisition of the American company, AutoLogic LLC, the leader in technological services for emissions control of polluting gases.
2008 Applus+ RTD acquired JAN X-Ray Services, Inc. based out of Parma, Michigan.
2008 Start operation in Illinois.
2010 Applus+ RTD acquired Quality Inspection Services, Inc. based out of New York, and Quality Assurance Laboratories based out Maine in 2010.
2011 Applus+ achieves a €1206M turnover accross more than 65 countries.
2011 Kiefner and Associates, Inc. a pipeline engineering and consultancy firm based out of Columbus, Ohio was acquired in 2011, adding a new level of expertise to the organization.
2011 Renewed program in Connecticut and awarded contract in Salt Lake (Utah).
2012 Start operation in Madrid, Ontario and Weber County.
2015 The company extended programs in Illinois and Weber County.
2016 Energy & Industry is born as a result of the Integration of the former Applus+RTD, Applus+ Velosi and Applus+ Norcontrol divisions.
In 2017, the Group’s share capital was increased by 10% (€137 million).
2018 Applus+ renewed the program in Weber County, Opened a new station in Madrid.
2020 Applus+ acquires Besikta in Sweeden.
