Job Description:
The Job Training Specialist - is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining technical and safety training programs that equip employees with the knowledge and skills needed to perform effectively in a heavy industrial environment. This role ensures that all employees-new hires and existing team members-are properly trained in operational procedures, equipment use, safety standards, and company policies.
The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design and communication skills with practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Training Development & Delivery:
Design and deliver hands-on and classroom training for production, maintenance, and operations staff on equipment operation, process safety, quality standards, and efficiency practices.
Onboarding & Orientation:
Lead the onboarding process for new hires, providing clear instruction on safety protocols, operational procedures, company policies, and manufacturing expectations.
Safety & Compliance Training:
Conduct and track all required OSHA, environmental, and company-specific safety training. Partner with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) to maintain compliance with all regulatory standards.

Evaluate employee competency through testing, observation, and certification programs; maintain detailed training records and compliance documentation.
Training Program Management:

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Education, Occupational Safety, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
3-5 years of experience in training, operations, or safety roles within heavy manufacturing, metal fabrication, foundry, or industrial production environments.
Proven background in instructional delivery and technical training development.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, ISO standards).
Excellent facilitation and communication skills for both classroom and hands-on training.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and process manuals.

This is primarily a Probation Officer position, but also requires the flexibility and aptitude to perform essential Pretrial Services Officer duties as needed. The position requires the performance of responsible, professional work to include conducting interviews, investigations, and risk assessments, and preparing recommendation reports for the court on defendants detained awaiting trial and supervising those who are released on bail to the Community Corrections and Pretrial Services Agency.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Collects daily arrest and detention data from the Lynchburg, Bedford County and Campbell County adult detention centers and screens defendants held in jail awaiting trial;
* Interviews (both in person and using video equipment) and investigates defendants held in jail according to Department of Criminal Justice
* Services (DCJS) Standards, and local policies and procedures;
* Verifies background information provided by defendants and probationers, including residence, employment, and criminal history;
* Prepares written reports and risk assessments on defendants for the Court as required;
* Testifies in Court proceedings as necessary regarding the status of defendants;
* Conducts substance abuse tests and prepares Simple Screening Instruments (SSI's) on defendants as prescribed by conditions of bond in accordance with DCJS standards, and local policies and procedures;
* Maintains paper and computer case files and recordkeeping systems according to DCJS requirements and local procedures;
* Documents each defendant's or probationer's compliance or lack thereof in complying with conditions of release and supervision and follows established local procedures for dealing with non-compliance, violations, and serious incidents;
* Monitors and inputs supervision contacts and court dates in computerized files and notifies defendants of all scheduled court appearances, with appropriate follow-up for any who fail to maintain contact and fail to appear in court;
* Maintains daily/monthly logs and prepares programmatic data reports as required;
* Provides and documents local probation and pretrial defendant supervision and case management of assigned clients in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures;
* Conducts intake interviews and record checks, completes risk screening and assessments, develops case plans, and implements and monitors court-ordered program components for assigned probation cases;
* Responsible for placing probationers at community service worksites according to local procedures, ensuring worksite supervision, verifying work performed and developing new worksites as needed;
* Complies with applicable state and federal requirements for the privacy, confidentiality, security, collection, storage, and dissemination of criminal history, correctional status, substance abuse, and medical history information;
* Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with other criminal justice agencies, including the magistrate's office, jails, law enforcement, courts, Commonwealth's Attorney office, Probation and Pretrial Services agencies, and appropriate community resources;
* Monitors and follows up on status of Pretrial defendants held in custody;
* Inputs and ensures accuracy of monthly program data;
* Fills in for other Pretrial Services Officers or Probation Officers as needed.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Other duties to provide direct or indirect services to citizens may be assigned.
* When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Campus Security Authority/Mandated Reporter on matters pertaining to sexual misconduct.
* Communicates via two-way radio, portable/hand-held or base station, with coworkers, Communications Operators and other college employees.
* Acts as a liaison between Randolph College and the city, state, and federal law enforcement agencies serving the area or region.
* Tours and completes safety and security checks of assigned buildings and grounds, including exterior doors, windows, and key building equipment such as boilers, air conditioning systems, etc., as directed. Contacts appropriate maintenance personnel if necessary to respond to equipment failure or facility repairs of an urgent nature.
* Responds immediately to fire alarms, ensuring evacuation of buildings and identification of hazards; resets alarms and ensures ready status as necessary.
* Inspects fire fighting and safety protection equipment, interior and exterior lighting as required by applicable codes or statutes, and in accordance with policy established by the college.
* Responds to perimeter intrusion alarm activations of college properties and facilities.
* Assists the Division of Student Affairs with scheduled fire drills, in compliance with campus policy and Federal mandates regarding fire safety standards.
* Assists the Division of Student Affairs with personal safety education programs, and with general security assessments offered by the Department of Campus Safety.

General Definition of Work: To teach a nursing assistant program that produces a well-rounded student with the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain employment upon the completion of the nursing assistant program.
Essential Functions:
Provides formal classroom instruction to Certified Nursing Assistant students (pre-clinical).
Evaluates student performance and learning of theory.
Supervises Certified Nursing Assistant students during clinical hours.
Prepares and maintains accurate records of student's attendance and grades earned in both classroom and clinical practice.
Participates and assists with curriculum development and revision, school activities, faculty meetings, county-wide teachers meetings and professional meetings at the hospital.
Organizes the physical aspects of program including purchase of equipment, correspondence, recruiting, interviewing, writing policy, reports, records, and maintaining the office, classroom, and skills lab.
Gives collective and individual guidance to students in the Nursing Assistant Program.
Informs the public about the Nursing Assistant Program.
Evaluates the entire program in regard to curriculum, policy, safety, and need.
Reviews State Board Test results, and individual student's performance records.
Keeps abreast of current nursing developments by reading professional literature, attending conferences and associates with others in the profession.
Belongs to professional organizations.
Self-evaluates to include methods of teaching, textbooks used, rotation plans.
Keeps all records and documentation required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and VDOE.
Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as apparent or assigned by the Building Administrator and the Supervisor of Career and Technical Education
Education and Job Experience: At least 2 years of active practice as a registered nurse in the last 5 years or VDOE Teacher License Endorsement for Nursing. Compensation will be based on degree and experience as described in the Amherst County Public School Teachers' Salary Scale Schedule.
License/Endorsements: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Virginia
