Job Summary
College and Career Youth Apprentice position will participate in 180 hour apprenticeship focusing in one of three post-secondary tracks. Incumbent should be a participating member in the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Center and should be actively working towards post-secondary college, career, or technical education goals. Incumbent will also have a junior or senior class standing in high school. Apprentice will be placed in an apprenticeship that mirrors their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) established in the College and Career Readiness Center. Incumbent will work hours that accommodate their current educational needs and attend workshops centered around their post-secondary goals.
Essential Functions
Be a participating member of the College and Career Readiness Center
Works with College and Career Readiness Center's advisors
Sets goals in an Individual Learning Plan with advisor
Attends workshops that focus on chosen post-secondary track
Maintains working relationship with on-site apprenticeship supervisor
Meets all expectations of on-site apprenticeship placement
Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for performing work on HEA construction and maintenance projects in compliance with shop drawings and specifications while adhering to HEA safety standards.
Perform proper assembly or installation of overhead line construction such as framing and erection of poles, towers, and fixtures.
Perform proper assembly or installation of splices, indoor/outdoor terminations, load break elbows, transformers, switch cabinets, vacuum/oil switches, conduits or ducts, vaults and pads, conductors, and various types of apparatus in the secondary, distribution, and transmission voltages.
Operate equipment and vehicles related to power line maintenance, operations, and constructions.
Respond to and perform problem/outage operations and maintenance when available outside normal work hours when required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Job Purpose:
Install new electrical systems, equipment, wiring and controls in an existing brown field petrochemical environment.
Essential Job Functions:
* Assists Electrical Journeyman in setup and performance of job tasks.
* Assist Journeyman with maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation and construction of industrial electrical equipment and systems found in an industrial environment through the proper use of standard wire, conduit, cable tray, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

The goal of KIC's language program is to revitalize our heritage languages by developing the fluency of younger speakers. All language apprentices must possess a demonstrated commitment to language learning and teaching in his/her personal and professional lives. The Language Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the preservation of the Tribe's heritage languages through participation in a Mentor-Apprenticeship. The incumbent will also develop existing speaking and writing abilities through conversational practice and assigned language translation and transcription duties. The incumbent is also expected to apply his/her language skills throughout the community, especially at tribal and cultural events and may be called on to demonstrate his/her progress by sharing in a variety of public settings, such as (but not limited to) Tribal Council meetings, Annual Meeting, Elder's Dinners, and community potlatches. Duties are carried out to fulfill the Language Program's strategic plan and within established guidelines and policies under the general supervision of the Education & Training Director.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Attends daily mentorship-apprentice sessions, unless other arrangements are pre-approved by the language facilitator.
Commits to immersion style learning at all times when attending mentor-apprenticeship sessions.
Maintains the primary responsibility of documenting mentorship-apprentice sessions through use of digital voice, photo, and/or video recordings.
Utilizes language throughout the workday and in all other possible situations.
Practices conversation exclusively in heritage language with apprentice I or III.
Addresses other language learners and teachers in the heritage language at cultural events and in the community.
Working with apprentice II or III to keep a written record of highlights from daily mentor-apprenticeship sessions, and as specified by the language facilitator.
Assists in the republishing of KIC language material.
Keep a language journal to document increased literacy in heritage language.
Regularly participates in a reporting on self-evaluation in intervals no less than every three months.
Solicits feedback from language mentor and other language speakers.
Participates in formal pre and post evaluation testing when directed by the Education & Training Director.

Job Summary
College and Career Youth Apprentice position will participate in 180 hour apprenticeship focusing in one of three post-secondary tracks. Incumbent should be a participating member in the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Center and should be actively working towards post-secondary college, career, or technical education goals. Incumbent will also have a junior or senior class standing in high school. Apprentice will be placed in an apprenticeship that mirrors their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) established in the College and Career Readiness Center. Incumbent will work hours that accommodate their current educational needs and attend workshops centered around their post-secondary goals.
Essential Functions
Be a participating member of the College and Career Readiness Center
Works with College and Career Readiness Center's advisors
Sets goals in an Individual Learning Plan with advisor
Attends workshops that focus on chosen post-secondary track
Maintains working relationship with on-site apprenticeship supervisor
Meets all expectations of on-site apprenticeship placement
Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Education
Junior or Senior class standing in high school

Pediatric/Adult CPR/First Aid Certification, or obtain within 90 days

Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training in duration of the program
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
