TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE The Service Department is an integral piece to the success of the business and customer experience at Bane-Welker. A Technician Apprentice is responsible for assisting with repair and maintenance work on equipment, in a timely manner, as assigned by the Service Manager with the potential for independent assignments. An apprentice must have mechanical knowledge including hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic skills. Principal Responsibilities: Participate in schooling, recommended training, and take initiative to stay up to date on relevant service knowledge, bulletins, and other changes regarding new and existing products. Performs set up or pre-delivery inspections on new or used equipment as prescribed by manufacturer's manual. Successfully complete assigned jobs efficiently while communicating with mentoring technicians and service management. Complete and process all work or school related paperwork for each assignment in a timely, consistent, and accurate manner. Performs equipment repair and maintenance work, according to time schedules assigned by service manager. Seek feedback from the service manager and technicians to improve efficiency and productivity. Assist other technicians with current tasks when required or requested. Follow all safety, environmental and regulatory compliance protocols, policies, and requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Provide and/or maintain the tools required to efficiently complete assigned work. Professionally maintain and clean equipment as agreed upon. Requirements of Position: Must be willing to pursue further training/ education beyond high school. Have a customer focused and “be of service” attitude. Demonstrate organizational ability and systematic timing. Proven knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in the repair of agricultural equipment. Possess adequate knowledge of work processes and requirements for both physical labor, shop equipment, and safety procedures. Must be familiar with the dealer's line of equipment. Ability to demonstrate the guiding principles of Bane-Welker Equipment. Ability to maintain customer relationships and cultivate new customers for future growth. Possess mechanical ability and familiarization with testing equipment and diagnostic procedures. Be experienced in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes. Must have a valid driver's license. Reports to the Service Manager Bane-Welker Equipment reserves the right to modify, interpret or apply this in any way the company desires. The Express Technician is the backbone of our quick service department, efficiently performing routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles. You'll play a vital role in keeping customers happy by providing fast, accurate, and high-quality service. Responsibilities: Routine Maintenance and Inspections: Perform multi-point inspections, identifying potential issues and preventative maintenance needs. Change engine oil and filters according to manufacturer specifications. Rotate and balance tires, checking air pressure and tread wear. Top off or replace fluids (coolant, windshield washer fluid, etc.). Perform other express services like battery checks, wiper blade replacements, and air filter changes. Document all completed services and identified issues on repair orders. Customer Service: Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Explain service recommendations clearly and concisely, obtaining customer authorization before proceeding. Provide estimated wait times and keep customers informed of service progress. Address customer concerns promptly and professionally. Technical Skills and Safety: Possess a strong understanding of basic automotive maintenance procedures. Work efficiently and accurately, adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols. Use a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment effectively. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Additional Responsibilities: May assist with preparing vehicles for service (removing floor mats, placing protective covers, etc.). May stock and maintain service supplies. Contribute to a positive and efficient work environment within the service department. Qualifications: Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in automotive repair or a related field (preferred). Certifications: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications a plus. Strong understanding of basic automotive systems and maintenance procedures. Ability to follow manufacturer service specifications and safety guidelines. Excellent mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new skills quickly. Manual dexterity and the ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, reaching). Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Ability to work in a noisy and sometimes dirty environment. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Good eyesight and hearing. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
