DUTIES

Summary
This position operates all line equipment used in construction, maintenance and removal of overhead and underground power lines. Performs substation maintenance, construction and switching in substations for both distribution and transmission voltages. An Apprentice Technician is a training position to become an Automotive Technician and associates must be able to safely operate shop equipment, demonstrate the ability to learn and repeat basic mechanical repairs, and comply with Kendall Auto Group, OSHA and EPA policies.

General Purpose

Responsibilities

Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and working out of truck mounted bucket lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits. Operates switches, cutouts and uses grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment. You may train and direct the work of a trainee in the trade.

* A Journeyman Lineman certification or testing through IBEW Local 125.

* Candidate must have formal hot stick training and experience.
* Must own, or be able to obtain, a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
* This position requires a post-offer, pre-placement physical capacity screening, conducted by a licensed physical therapist, to assure the candidate meets the physical demands of the job. The screening will assess only the identified physical demands of the job being applied for.

Working independently and collaboratively with others, this position plays an integral role in executing CPI's mission, philosophy, and commitment to providing safe, reliable electricity to our members and exceptional service to our internal and external customers. This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 659). The Journeyman Lineman performs overhead and underground electric line construction and maintenance of equipment under the direction of a Line Foreman. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving trucks, operating equipment, loading and unloading material, climbing poles, and working from aerial man-lift devices.
Essential Functions of the Position:

Erect necessary rigging.
Install insulation or vapor barriers.
Cut materials to fit corners and against walls.
Replace damaged joists and plywood.
