    Purpose and Scope: Performs electrical repairs and maintenance to USAF vehicle fleet. Inspects, repairs, maintains and services military and commercial vehicles and equipment. Essential Responsibilities: Inspects, tests, repairs and maintains all electrical systems on heavy, light and special purpose vehicles and Materials Handling Equipment (MHE). Uses and interprets wiring diagrams, test equipment and special tools. Charge and repair air conditioning systems. Conducts Limited Technical Inspections (LTI's) on assigned vehicles, determining the causes of malfunctions, extent of repairs required, parts required and cost of repair. Repairs or replaces parts and assemblies. Realigns and adjusts systems on all aspects of motor vehicles, for instance, gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, steering and braking systems, clutches, fluid flywheels and torque converters, axle hubs and bearings, fuel air and cooling systems, suspension, body work and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoots, calibrates and times, by means of diagrams, manuals, special tools/meters/test equipment electrical systems, pumps meters and injectors, distributors, air conditioning systems and vehicle attachment. Services and carries out preventative maintenance, renewing oils, filters, coolant, belts and lubricants as directed on assigned vehicles. Maintains and stores out-load items [wet and dry charged batteries, electrolyte, battery clamps, and other required equipment]. Keeps a stock of charged batteries at the levels laid down in Performance Work Statement (PWS) and as directed by the supervisor. Maintains the battery charging room. Research parts by means of the Federal Logistics (FEDLOG), Technical Orders and parts manuals. Checks all safety equipment - eyewash stations, showers, first aid kits and emergency exits on weekly and reports faults to Chief Mechanic. Observes Safety, Environmental and Hazardous Materiel (HAZMAT) procedures followed explicitly. Fits and removes batteries to vehicles on receipt or out-load. Completes work orders with work done and hours worked. Reports worn or broken tools to the Chief Mechanic and identify new tools required. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: High School diploma or equivalent required. Three years' experience as a vehicle electrician required. Evidence of formal training preferably an apprenticeship in electrical engineering required. Must be capable of understanding safety instructions, wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Able to read technical orders and comprehend detailed instructions required. Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
