What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others at all times.
Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment. Learn the practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the Electrician's trade, including how to operate and store all equipment. Learn the occupational hazards of the Electrician's trade.
Learn to Repair and Maintain Electronic Equipment. Assist co-workers in the service, repair, calibration, regulation, fine-tuning, and testing of machines, devices, electrical systems, conductors, and associated equipment at aggregate, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, ship, and rail unloading systems.
Learn to String Lines. Assist co-workers in stringing overhead and underground lines and cables and in installing conduit and wire.
Become Familiar with Blueprints and Schematics. Learn how to read and draw simple electrical sketches. Work with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine safe and effective installation procedures.
Perform Basic Troubleshooting. Detect and diagnose all electrical wiring, appliances, fixtures, machinery problems, failing components, and malfunctions while making corrections and striving to improve equipment reliability.

I have experience that demonstrates my ability to perform Mid-level tasks such as: Assists journeyman in performing all phases of installation, alteration and repair to electrical wiring, fixtures, equipment and facilities within an assigned area on post. Assists journeyman with new installations, alterations, additions and deletions to electrical facilities within any area on post, in accordance with authorized work orders. Install new electrical circuits, wall plugs, electric hot water heaters and circuits, rewiring existing electrical circuits to accommodate additional electrical equipment and avoid overload or rewiring. Plans and lays out work according to rough sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
You may qualify at the WG 10 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
I have experience that demonstrates my ability to perform a full range of electrical tasks at the highest journeyman level such as: Installs, maintains, modifies, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs secondary power distribution and building electrical systems and related circuits and equipment. These power distribution and building systems are primarily composed of, but not limited to: conduits, conductors, junction boxes, related switches, power outlets, transformers, distribution panels, electric motors, electric motor starters and controls, light dimmers, digitally networked lighting controls, fire alarms, automatic transfer switches, as well as a wide variety of electrical lighting fixtures, equipment, and appliances. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

2. Confers with Production Manager, other Superintendents and subcontractors to coordinate work schedules and prioritize work. Estimates work ensuring proper workflow.
3. Ensures that machinery and equipment are properly maintained for efficient production and eliminates wasteful practices within the department. Responsible for identifying improved methods, and efficient and economical utilization of materials. Orders new equipment and material as needed for ongoing jobs.
4.Conducts ship checks to ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices and on time performance. Writes procedures for Electrical Department and training outlines.
5. Maintains good employee relations practices within his department and takes corrective action as required.
6. Recommends the hiring and release of Electrical personnel as required to maintain production schedule.
7. Establishes accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation and conducts training.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps records of departmental activities as required.
2. May use hand tools and instruments associated with the trade.
3. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.
