Job Description
The Metrology Electrician works for and reports directly to the Metrology Quality Manager 1. The Metrology Electrician is responsible for the calibration, troubleshooting and repair of shipboard installed electrical measuring equipment using established methods and procedures. Performs onboard calibration of ships systems including but not limited to tank level indicators (TLIs), reverse osmosis console, collective protection system zone alarm panel (CPS Zone), oily waste transfer system (OWTS), redundant internally mounted start sequence (RIMMS), sonar dome pressure indicator (SDPI), and MPDE pressure transducers and amplifiers. Requires the ability to work with minimal supervision.

General Function

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Install conduit to bulkheads using brackets and screws, then thread wires through conduit to terminals such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
• Connect power-supply circuits to systems including radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other onboard electronic equipment.
• Test electrical characteristics-such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle-within circuits using meters and indicators.
• Construct and install instrument panels using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills according to specifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics is preferred.
• Strong understanding of marine or industrial electrical systems and components.
Experience and Training
• Prior experience as an electrician is required.
• Experience in an industrial or shipyard environment is strongly preferred.
