POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings, specifications, and applicable codes to determine wiring layouts.
Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices and implement effective solutions.
Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
Pull wire through conduits and holes in walls and floors.
Position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels and fuse enclosures.
Install, replace, maintain, and repair electrical systems and related electrical equipment, including wiring, lighting and control systems in various settings.
Install data cabling.
Splice, join and connect wire to form circuits.
Test circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
Install and maintain fiber optic systems.
Install, replace, maintain, and repair electrical generation sources and related equipment
Ensure all electrical installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations; adhere to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to detect hazards, defects, or failures.
Work closely with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to plan and execute electrical installations and upgrades.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including materials used and time spent on each project.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical school is preferred.
Valid electrician license as required by state regulations.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings; in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety regulations.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
EQUIPMENT & APPLICATIONS /WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lifting and Carrying - Frequently lifting and carrying tools, materials, and equipment, often weighing up to 25-50 lbs.
Climbing and Balancing - Using ladders, scaffolding, and lifts to reach high areas for wiring and fixture installations.
Crouching and Kneeling - Working in tight spaces like crawlspaces, attics, and vaults.
Standing for Long Periods - Spending hours on their feet while wiring or troubleshooting.
Repetitive Movements - Engaging in repeated motions such as twisting, bending at the waist, kneeling, stripping wires, twisting connections, and using hand tools continuously
Working in Uncomfortable Positions - Holding tools or equipment overhead, reaching into confined areas, or maintaining awkward postures.
Exposure to Weather - Working outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind
Hand and Finger Dexterity - Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens, etc.)
Pulling and Pushing - Pulling wires through conduits or pushing heavy equipment into place.
Carrying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Wearing and carrying safety gear like hard hats, gloves, harnesses, and boots.
