Under general supervision, responsible for operation and maintenance of, but not limited to, campus electrical system, substations, switchgear, main distribution panels, sub panels, wiring and related equipment and devices.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Performs repairs, routine and planned maintenance, as well as installations on electrical equipment and devices such as, but not limited to, wiring, switches, receptacles, interior and exterior lighting, ballasts, fuses, breakers, and panels.
2. Performs inspections, repairs, routine and planned maintenance, as well as installations of emergency lighting, emergency generators and related equipment and devices.
3. Performs necessary repairs to faulty equipment and systems, as well as vacuum cleaners.
4. Troubleshoots and performs repairs, routine and planned maintenance to variable frequency drives.
5. Performs necessary repairs, routine and planned maintenance on dimming systems.
6. Performs minor maintenance on building fire alarm systems.
7. Performs routine inspections of all electrical rooms for cleanliness and malfunctioning equipment.
8. Performs minor repairs on all College owned vehicles as required.
9. Owns and uses personal hand tools.
10. Responsible for recording and notifying supervisor of need for any/all maintenance and repairs to electrical distribution system, substations, switchgear, main distribution panels, sub panels, wiring and related equipment and devices.
11. Responsible for recording and notifying supervisor of need for elimination of safety hazards.
Other Job Functions:
12. Makes recommendations about actions to be taken, appropriate materials and quantity estimates required for the job.
13. Cleans equipment and project work area including disposal of debris and scrapped material.
14. Assists with other classifications as assigned.
15. Assists with setups, takedowns, moves and snow removal, as well as cleans fleet vehicles.
16. Assists with the training of trainees and other persons not familiar with the duties and responsibilities of this classification.

Position Qualifications
* Three years' experience in the electrical field or successful completion of the related training program.
* Specialized training in electricity, motors and related items at a post-secondary school level or successful completion of the related training program.
* High school graduate or GED, as well as the ability to read, write and perform basic math.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
* Ability to keep accurate records.
* Ability to operate all College owned vehicles, as well as the boom lift.
* Valid PA driver's license, clear of major violations

Conducts appropriate on-the-job training of apprentices.

Job Qualifications
Skills/Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency.
Minimum of four years experience in the electrical trade
Completion of a state-approved apprenticeship program and the ability to obtain a Maryland and Delaware Electrical Journeyperson License, preferred. (Dependent upon required licensing, this may be a requirement of the position in the future)
Satisfactorily performs tasks at or above Apprentice Level 4.
Ability to properly lay out and administer small jobs (normally one to three team members)
Good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).

Must have reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location/office.

Repetitive use of hands includes: continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations.
Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, conduit benders and vertical climbing.
Vision adequate for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification.
Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts and for working from heights.
Environmental factors may include working in temperature extremes of 0° F to 100° F up to 8 hours inside or outside and atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, and odors within the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL).
Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards.
Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Equipment on an "as needed" basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves, etc.
