Job Title: Maintenance Electrician
Shift: 6:00PM - 6:00AM (2 on - 2 off - 3 on)
Job Summary:
The maintenance electrician will perform tasks including but not limited to one or more of the following tasks: maintain all primary and secondary/electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts. Troubleshoot and maintain control circuitry, variable frequency drives and all other special electrical systems. Wire outlets, relocate fixtures, troubleshoot lighting and power panels, install such outlets in existing and underground raceways when applicable and required. Perform as a Multi-Craft Technician other duties onsite, such as plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain all primary and secondary/electrical distribution systems up to 600 volts. Troubleshoot and maintain control circuitry, variable frequency drives and all other special electrical systems. Wire outlets, relocate fixtures, lighting and power panels, install such outlets in existing and underground raceways when applicable and required.
Service batteries and transformers
Demonstrate the ability to read and follow blueprints
Demonstrate understanding of AC motor controls and how to maintain, test, and repair
Demonstrate understanding of VFD's and how to install, maintain, and troubleshoot.
Responsible for the completion of all PM and record keeping assigned to his/her areas of responsibility.
Submit as required electrician's reports for all work done.
Make recommendations to his/her supervisor as necessary on the performance of all equipment.
Respond to emergencies at any time.
Maintain a safe and clean work area. Demonstrate basic safe work practices based on company and customer policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
HS diploma or Degree/Certification, or equivalent professional experience in Trades (Electrical).
Must have a Journeyman's license or have successfully completed a four-year apprenticeship program
Five or more years' experience working in Commercial, Industrial, and Manufacturing environment.
Proven in-depth knowledge of related building codes, regulations and ordinances.
Proven ability to effectively read, interpret and work from plans, schematics and drawings.
Prior experience in project estimation of electrical labor, materials and equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.

Role Responsibilities:
Work with Electrics staff and overhire crew in prepping, hanging, focusing, and running productions across 5 venues .

Minimum Requirements:

Experience working in lighting for theater, dance, or events, as well as a basic understanding of current lighting equipment, including control consoles.
Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces. This position requires working in a public area, being on your feet for long periods of time, and will often include working nights and weekends depending on show assignments.

Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching are performed on a frequent basis. Bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and twisting are performed on an occasional to frequent basis. The heaviest physical demands are required during the moving and handling of 55-gallon drums, capacitor cans, recloser control boxes, bushings, and nitrogen tanks. These activities require handling of up to 25-pounds on a frequent basis, 50-100 pounds on an occasional basis. Heavier tasks may require the assistance of (2) or more co-workers. The work schedule is five (5) eight (8) hour days Monday through Friday.

Founded in 2022, the farm now serves as a local space for gathering, learning, and growing food. In 2023, over 2,000 lbs. of fresh produce were grown and distributed from the space, and dozens of communitymembers joined for harvest days, volunteer workdays, and community events. The farm is currently stewarded by NYBG's Bronx Green-Up, in partnership with the New York City Housing Authority's Farms and Gardens Program and Castle Hill Houses Residents Association, with the support of Castle Hill community members and volunteers.
The Karol's Urban Community Farm CHARD (Castle Hill Agricultural Resident Development) Program is designed to support young residents of the Castle Hill Houses as they explore the agricultural field and related career options.
CHARD Apprentices will report to the Coordinator of Urban Agriculture Projects for Bronx Green-Up.
