Responsibilities include following all local, state, and federal electrical codes. Documentation of problems and maintenance of equipment, operation and safety precautions. Responsibilities also include installing and maintaining new and existing electrical wiring within the facility as well as working safely at all times. Maintain cleanliness of electrical shop and job sites, while practicing appropriate safety procedures. Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. This position may also require climbing or balancing. Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess the following: High school graduate with electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment or applicable education. (Trade school, apprenticeship, etc.) Working knowledge of PLCs, sensors, controls and computer technology. Ability to read, interpret and create electrical diagrams. An applied understanding of the NEC and general electrical safety. Strong team player and ability to function well and work safely with other people. Working knowledge of single and three phase systems up to 480 volts. Solid understanding of systematic troubleshooting. Committed to working safely. Seattle City Light is looking for several Electrician Constructors to join our team our various teams around the utility. These roles install and maintain a variety of electrical systems using specialized tools and vehicles; provide on-the-job training to apprentices and helpers, and diagnose and correct defects in power generation and distribution systems. The work requires expert knowledge of electrical theory and principles, familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the electrical trades, ability to interpret and apply blueprints, specifications and codes, and knowledge of safety rules and procedures. Work is carried out independently, with the supervisor providing instruction and clarification for unusual or difficult problems. Employees select from and apply a variety of written guidelines and reference materials. These positions will report to an EC&M Supervisor. * Installs, maintains, tests and repairs generators, control equipment, electrical motors, power circuit breakers, voltage regulators, automatic generation control equipment, transformers, and other electrical equipment. * Installs and repairs conduit and wiring in and around substations, powerhouses and other installations. * Installs, inspects and repairs security systems, selective and control relays, station batteries, and chargers. * Diagnoses, repairs and replaces water-level monitoring and control systems hoisting equipment, spillgates, intake gates, overhead cranes, and elevator systems. * Operates and maintains specialized mobile equipment and vehicles. * Instructs and monitors the work of Electrical Helpers and Electrician-Constructor Apprentices. * Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has: Experience: Requires a minimum of three years of experience in the electrical trades as an apprentice or helper, including one year working with 2200 volt or higher electrical equipment (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). Certification/License: Current Washington State driver's license. Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities: * Familiar with High Voltage equipment used in electrical substations and on overhead and underground electrical installations.
