Laborer Apprentice
Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Apprentice that will be responsible for learning the trade while assisting with preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and unload equipment
Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
Level ground for scaffolding
Tend motor and grout
Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris
Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
Vibrate concrete
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program
Experience in construction preferred
Ability to work with tools and equipment, such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills and jackhammers, forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail oriented; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements

This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Follows procedures for accessing and obtaining materials, supplies, equipment, tools, and other items from the property's maintenance department by tracking inventory used, returning unused items to the established location, and notifying the maintenance supervisor about re-ordering needs.
+ Adherence to Property Management Rules, Regulations and Guidelines
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, property, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/visitor/resident injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the appropriate individual(s).
Complies with Avanath's safety and risk-management policies by attending and participating in the property's routine safety meetings, completing required training on OSHA and other safety-related laws and requirements, and reporting accidents and incidents promptly and accurately.
Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).
Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing,
Americans with Disabilities Act
, and all other laws pertaining to the apartment industry.
+ Physical Demands & Working Conditions
The incumbent in this is classified as essential staff and is expected to report to work and adhere to all safety and business protocols.
May be required to report to work during inclement weather conditions.
Frequent standing and walking.
Reading, comprehending, writing, performing calculations, communicating verbally.
May work in an elevated site, may walk on uneven ground.
Occasional squatting, bending neck/waist, twisting neck/waist, pushing, and pulling.
Maybe required to travel to sister communities to provide maintenance support.
