Lineworker First Class
DEFINITION
Perform skilled and specialized work in the construction, maintenance and operation of an electrical distribution, transmission, overhead and underground systems; and perform a variety of other duties and responsibilities involved in providing electrical utility services for the City.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the advanced journey level position. This class is distinguished from the Lineworker Apprentice by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of duties assigned. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series by having significant knowledge of the electric distribution and transmission system in the City of Grand Island and the ability to work on and sometimes oversee work on all types of energized equipment and lines. As the most advanced lineworker, the Lineworker First Class is responsible for ensuring the safety of all subordinate line staff working with him/her. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

Assist with the installation and maintenance of primary and secondary voltage power lines and systems; assist in replacing old or malfunctioning power lines; assist in constructing and stringing new power lines.
Frame electrical poles prior to installation; climb poles to work on secondary distribution systems; check voltages; assemble and activate electrical components.
Perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery and tools; ensure that service vehicles are equipped to respond to emergency situations.
Respond to service calls concerning power outages and various electrical problems on a stand-by basis when accompanied by higher-level lineworkers; assist in work to correct power outages and electrical problems.
Observe all established safety standards while performing work including the wearing of safety apparel, proper placement of work barricades and warning signs and grounding of machinery and equipment.
Participate in tree trim crew; assist in identifying obstructed lines; work with crew chief in removing limbs and trees accordingly; chip wood from limbs and trees; grind stumps as necessary.
Assist with cleaning vehicles, equipment and City facilities associated with electric lines work.
Assist with replacing services wires and connections; install meters and perform reconnections of service; assist with work on transformers and substations.
Operate and use a wide variety of equipment including various hydraulic, hand and power tools, various trucks, wire pulling equipment, chippers and voltage meters.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Building and site construction /maintenance including basic structural, electrical, drainage, concrete removal and installation, painting, mowing and snow removal.
Assist in testing and maintaining control equipment used for remote operation of the water and electrical distribution systems.
Perform related duties as assigned.

What You'll Do
* Assist Journeyman Electricians with installing and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment

Collins York is looking for a motivated and energetic person to join our 2nd shift operation. All work is done in a clean, climate controlled facility where we put safety and quality first in everything we do.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Operate CNC lathes, mills, grinders and other specialized CNC and manual equipment and/or perform finish work and marking of piece parts in various stages of production.
+ Machinist will be expected to set-up and run machines on a wide variety of operations involving multiple machines that convert raw materials to precision semi-finished goods within print tolerance specification.
+ Required to obtain inspection certification through on-the-job training & testing.
**Qualifications/Experience needed:**
+ Typically requires a High School diploma or GED. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with measurement equipment, i.e. gauges, calipers, etc.
+ Experience with basic hand tools.
+ Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use multiple computer applications (including email, internet, and other job-specific applications).
+ Basic math skills, including adding and subtracting decimals
+ Experience reading, interpreting, and following blueprints.
