This role provides hands-on learning in transmission line operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and technical skill development. Apprentices gain experience in climbing structures, stringing wire, grounding procedures, operating equipment, and troubleshooting transmission systems. This position is a critical step in the Electra Grid Solutions career path, preparing individuals for advancement to Transmission Lineman roles. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission power lines under supervision. * String overhead conductor wire and set poles, anchors, and related structures. * Assist in troubleshooting transmission system issues. * Work safely around energized high-voltage systems, following all safety protocols. * Operate digger derricks, side loaders, buckets, and wire tensioner equipment. * Climb and work on wood poles, steel towers, and other elevated structures. * Apply heavy lifting and rigging practices safely and effectively. * Support bare hand work operations (44kV to 500kV) and work toward certification. * Follow grounding procedures and understand induced voltage safety practices. * Properly install, use, and remove PPE and cover-up equipment. * Perform phasing and use phasing sticks accurately. * Assist in mechanical jumper installation and removal. * Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and work orders. * Conduct and participate in pre-job and tailgate safety briefings. * Inspect and maintain rubber goods, PPE, and tools. * Perform bucket rescue/escape drills and support crew safety training. * Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe working condition. * Perform all other duties as assigned to support transmission projects. Job Requirements * Minimum of 3 years of field experience preferred. * High School Diploma or GED required. * Valid Class A CDL required. * Must pass drug, alcohol, background, MVR, and physical checks. * Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. * Willingness to glove/work high-voltage transmission lines. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Strong understanding of grounding procedures, flag/tag rules, and minimum approach distances. * Proficient in pole/tower climbing, rigging, and hand line techniques. * Familiarity with transmission system components and operations. * Ability to identify wire sizes and transmission voltages. * Knowledge of line clearances and induced voltage safety. * Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces. * Skilled in equipment setup, voltage checks, and PPE use. * Effective communicator with strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. * Professional, dependable, and committed to safety. ENTRY-LEVEL SEPTIC SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT - PLUMBING ASSISTANT REQUIREMENTS Able to work in all types of weather Willing to learn technical specifications for multiple brands of septic systems, wastewater treatment plants, and related components Valid Class E driver's license and good driving record (MVR) Have or are willing to quickly obtain a Class D (chauffeur) driver's license Willing to attend training to obtain OSWW Certification (Installer, Maintainer, Pumper/Hauler, etc.) Any experience as a plumbing technician and/or any wastewater/septic system knowledge is a plus!
