* Prepare animal feed, supplements and medicines in prescribed portions.
* Feed animals according to schedules and feeding instructions.
* Examine animals to detect illness, injury and/or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain/loss as well as abnormal behavior.
* Provide treatment to sick or injured animals as directed by supervisor.
* Fill out reports regarding animal behavior, dietary logs, maintenance logs, treatments etc.
* Carry out animal training as directed by supervisor.
* Perform work dives for habitat maintenance and animal training.
* Complete daily exhibit/habitat maintenance.
* Do facility laundry, clean, organize, maintain and disinfect animal habitats, equipment and work areas. Proper use of chemicals utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
* Conduct educational talks for guests, provide accurate information and address guest questions in a friendly, professional manner.
* Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
* Welcome, instruct and deliver a positive experience for guests participating in interactive programs.
* Ensure safety for guests and customers at all times.
* Serve as instructor for classes and presentations.
Working Conditions: Indoors/outdoors, in/under water, during a variety of conditions. Ability to lift 30 lbs., majority of time spent walking, standing. Physical labor required.
Required Education / Experience:
* 1-2 years of demonstrated experience with marine animal care, including life support systems.
* A college degree in Biology, Zoology, or Marine Biology highly desired, but equivalent work experience will also be considered.
* Must be SCUBA open water certified and be able to pass a dive test.
* Must have CPR and First Aid Certification.
