The program: Is a registered apprenticeship program through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. The MA Apprentice is responsible for ensuring that ALL patient clinical measures are being addressed and will do so by doing thorough EHR reviews, working collaboratively with the Chronic Care Coordinators, tracking and documenting all clinical measures/outcomes for patients in EHR. Will coordinate and process all patient referrals, for both internal and external services. In addition, will inform patients regarding specialty referral, providing required information to specialist's offices for point of care referral processing, including but not limited to, labs, EHR notes, etc. Must be team oriented and work collaboratively with all other care team members to provide the best outcomes for the patients and the organizations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Is able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs and clinical measures such as those for infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients. Is responsible for the Pre-Huddle preparation and participation in the Care Team Huddle to ensure the collection of all relative clinic forms, quality/HEDIS measures, lab and x-ray reports and review of the Patient Manager and Medication confirmation process and any additional information necessary to be prepared for the patient's visit. The MA Apprentice will be responsible for obtaining patient subjective information and vital signs. MA will perform duties in the MA - Apprentice scope of Practice, to include administering immunization, administration of eye drops, and applying topical ointments. Will ensure documentation of all relevant information, care provided and processes engaged in, in accordance with Sea Mar protocol. Prepares exam and procedure rooms by stocking with the appropriate supplies and disinfecting as per established protocol. Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies and procedures of the organization. Respects the cultural diversity of Sea Mar patients and staff. Attends regular staff meetings and in service training. Ensures quality controls are performed and documented as required. Any area of non- compliance should be reported immediately to the supervisor / manager. Assists providers with GYN exams, I & D's, and other minor procedures. Ensures quality controls are performed and documented as required. Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Reports any abnormal vital signs to the provider immediately. Utilizes aseptic (sterile) technique. Assists with ordering of department supplies. Assists Nursing/MA Supervisors with streamlining and implementing pod/flow systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Ensures that all medical, nursing, health & safety and personnel policies and procedures are being followed and implemented. Assists with obtaining laboratory tests and results from previous orders not entered in the electronic health care record. Assist with obtaining patient notes and records from hospitals and other doctors' offices. Maintains positive collaborative working relationships with co-workers, specialists and community organizations. Ensures excellent customer service at each patient visit including escorting each patient to and from the treatment rooms. Addresses messages from patients or outside provider as quickly as possible, but no later than 1 business day. Will appropriately communicate provider delays and delays in patient flow to the front desk staff, direct supervisor and the patient. Ensures proper management of bio-hazardous waste. Assists with pharmacy requests. Ensures infection control and universal precautions are followed according to Sea Mar policy. Qualifications Meet the following minimum qualifications: Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English. High school education or equivalent. At least 18 years of age. Able to perform the duties of an MA Apprentice operating at the highest scope of work, in the judgment of the employer. Able to provide proof of 7.0 HIV/AIDS training from WA State DOH-approved training provider. Able to provide proof of up-to-date First Aid and CPR training. Have the time and resources to devote to the online coursework, lab days, and documentation associated with the program. Specific requirements include: Ability to spend at least 5 hours per week on online coursework for a full year. This time is unpaid and outside of normal work hours. (As an employer, you can choose to allow your employees to complete online coursework on the clock, at your discretion, but this is not an expectation). This registered Apprenticeship program is a unique route to obtaining MA-C certification. It is completed in lieu of community or technical college course, but it should be approached with the same level of commitment and professionalism. We are first responders that includes after hour call outs to collision scenes, and we help keep our citizens safe, with our traffic control systems, school beacons, pedestrian crossing beacons, and lighting. The City of Tacoma signal and streetlight shop currently operates and maintains 360+ traffic signals; 600+ flashers and beacons; and about 23,000+ streetlights. Electricians in the signal and streetlight shop are divided into three major categories of work as described below. Electricians starting with the City will typically spend several years working as Signal and Lighting Field Staff. Signal & Lighting Field Staff - Responsible for all operations and maintenance work associated with streetlights; and all overhead work associated with traffic signals, flashers, and beacons. Field electricians routinely operate out of 40-Foot and 55-foot bucket trucks, are constantly exposed to adverse weather conditions year round, and are also responsible for the vast majority of the physically demanding work. Traffic Signal Controller Shop Staff - Responsible for operations and maintenance of traffic signal controller cabinets, including wiring, programming, testing, and configuring the City's traffic controllers, conflict monitors, pedestrian push buttons, and vehicle detection equipment. The controller shop is also responsible for programming and scheduling of school zone beacons. Inspection and Locating Staff - Responsible for underground utility locates for signal and streetlight infrastructure and responsible for inspection of private development and City funded capital project work associated with the signal and lighting infrastructure. Electricians starting with the City must be formally enrolled in the City of Tacoma Signal and Lighting Apprenticeship Program and will start at the bottom of the pay scale regardless of previous experience or certifications held. The apprenticeship program is 7000 hours, which requires approximately 3.5 to 4.0 years to progress through. Once hired, apprentices will spend about one month in ground school and climbing school during normal working hours. For the next three years apprentices typically attend night school 1 night a week between September and June. Apprentices are not compensated additionally for time spent in classes. Step increases are typically at 1,000 hour, 6 month increments and are dependent upon passing practical and written exams. The apprentice program is eligible for VA benefits. Failure to advance at a reasonable pace through the program may be cause for dismissal. This position may offer volunteer overtime, and/or require overtime as needed. The shop may also operate a seasonal swing crew that works 4pm to Midnight and rotates through all field personnel. (Example: fuel run back, unsafe working conditions, etc.). * Assures that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and that it is for the specific job being accomplished, no work will be accomplished without a WAF posted at location of repairs. * Assures that any other safety issues are complied with that relate to the specific job being accomplished (Example: special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work related jobs, breathing apparatus with correct cartridges, etc). * Assures that you are trained or qualified for the work you are assigned to do (Example: JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, special electrical/mechanical repairs and etc.). * Assures that General Dynamics-NASSCO's Safety Procedures, including testing, are utilized for all torch work. * Assures that you and personnel working under your direction are working as safely and as productively as possible maintaining quality control at all times. * Assures that a 30 minute cool down period has been accomplished in hot work areas. * Assures that fire watches are assigned and maintained in the proper position. * Assures that the job site is left in a safe and clean condition prior to departure. Our classroom curriculum meets the rigorous requirements of State of Washington Department of Labor & Industries. These college level classes are generally held on site after or before the apprentice's regular paid work hours. Classroom hours are unpaid and, on the apprentice's, own time. A normal academic load is about three hours of classroom instruction per week. Apprentices are required to maintain minimum cumulative average of 80% and failure of any course will result in removal from the program. Homework is assigned in each class and it is the responsibility of the apprentice to complete the assignments outside the normal workday. What You will Do Depending on the trade, apprentices (or pre-apprentices) will learn to build vessel structures, hull components, piping systems, machinery installations and alignments, and prepare surfaces for painting or structural welding. The exact functions and responsibilities will vary by trade, and cannot be enumerated for all trades in this posting. For illustration, however, Marine Pipefitters fabricate and install all the piping systems on the ship. Ship Fitter/ Fabricators fabricate and install the many pieces that make up the hull of the ship and install equipment foundations and miscellaneous structural pieces.
