Lab Maintenance Apprentice Clariant is currently looking for a Lab Maintenance Apprentice to support the Catalyst division at our production facility in Louisville, KY. The Lab Maintenance Apprentice will support the R&D team by assisting skilled Maintenance, Electrical/Instrumentation Technicians, and Engineers in building, maintaining, repairing, and installing R&D testing units and laboratory equipment. Day-to-day guidance will be provided by Maintenance or Electrician staff, exposing the apprentice to all aspects of the work-including reading and understanding P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and process control narratives; learning how equipment is built and maintained; and supporting a wide range of hands-on mechanical and technical tasks. This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, eager to learn, and open to taking on diverse responsibilities. Duties/Responsibilities: Learn from journeyman electricians to perform the installation of electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment according to local and national electrical codes. Participate in conducting routine maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are in proper working condition. This may include supporting troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements. Learn to interpret and follow electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately. Using testing devices to check the functionality of electrical systems, identify faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Participate in inspections as required. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and mitigate potential electrical hazards. Stay updated on local and national electrical codes and regulations. Ensure all work meets the required standards. Interact with clients to understand their electrical needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns. Participate in diagnosing electrical issues and develop effective solutions. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety standards are followed. Maintain accurate records of work performed. Attend training sessions, workshops, and educational classes to enhance skills and knowledge. Travel to job sites in the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana area. Required Skills/Abilities: Basic understanding of electrical systems and principles. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. A strong willingness to learn Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team Good communication skills for interacting with coworkers and clients. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely Education and Experience: Enrollment in an accredited electrical apprenticeship program required Previous experience in electrical, construction or a related field is a plus Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Capable of standing, kneeling, and crouching for extended periods. Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments. Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts. Road tests vehicles when required Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
