POSITION SUMMARY
The Phlebotomist Apprentice is a technical skill-based apprenticeship that provides phlebotomy students the ability to learn and develop on the job training for phlebotomy. This role collects quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing. This role assists teams in Patient Service Centers, Hospitals, or in doctor's offices to meet patient demand during peak hours of the day or when or where business needs dictate once the student has completed educational and didactic training for specimen collection.
The Phlebotomist-Apprentice role has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood in a safe and accurate manner. The Phlebotomist Apprentice demonstrates behaviors based on Sonora Quest values, focusing on empathy, process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. This position may also perform specified analytical testing as assigned.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. To include the following: 1) specimen collection 2) general laboratory specimen processing or 3) referral laboratory processing. In doing so, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity by using appropriate techniques for all age criteria as required. Verifies patient demographics, location, physician data, tests requested, time and date of collection, appropriate clinical information, and all other pertinent data found on requisitions as required for processing and billing. Verifies accuracy of entered information. Verifies appropriateness of specimens received. Aliquots and labels specimens according to established departmental procedures and practices, delivers specimens to the technical area in a timely manner and / or performs initial processing and preparation of samples for transport. Performs “Triage” process as needed within Patient Service Centers. Enters data accurately
2. Focuses on quality by assuring that all work performed is accurate and complete. Completes documents legibly and accurately per site protocol. Follows established methods and practices. Maintains familiarity with departmental procedures. Uses appropriate documentation to record communications. Initiates computer generated reports as required for patient reporting and quality assurance monitoring. Maintains acceptable specimen rejection rates and meets the departmental standards for productivity and quality as currently defined.
3. Participates in departmental financial responsibilities through the appropriate use of supplies and materials. Avoids excessive waste. Participates in department initiatives to reduce costs and improve service. Basic knowledge of billing. Commitment to error free work environment.
4. Assures an exceptional customer experience through communication that reflects the highest standards of service to the customer, both internal and external, with a focus on compassion, empathy and professionalism. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES**
+ Assist in the maintenance of transmission facilities, including both wood and steel structures using live line maintenance with Bare hand / Hot Stick procedures. This includes climbing steel and wood structures, conducting aerial and ground patrol of assigned transmission lines, tightening hardware, checking insulator strings, and replacing fatigued or broken hardware.
+ Install and maintain conductors under both energized and de-energized conditions. Read blueprints and diagrams in order to assemble and erect wood and steel structures.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

+ May be required to have a National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operator (NCCO) designation, or willingness to obtain certification within 1 year from date of hire.

Responsibilities The Apprentice (HVAC or Refrigeration) provides support to an installation team by completing tasks in a safe, prompt, accurate, and professional manner and following customer specifications, applicable building codes, and proper piping practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Install equipment, by project requirements and under the direction of a senior technician: HVAC: air handler drains, piping for split systems, overhead duct hangers and ductwork, etc.
Refrigeration: display case drains, walk-in box drains, overhead hangers, and piping, etc.
Perform all assigned work safely and responsibly.
Use power and hand tools, powered vehicles, machinery, and PPE as directed and required by Source, customer, and contract policy.
Escalate problems and concerns (safety, quality of work, etc.
) to on-site senior technicians or project managers promptly.
Always maintain clean and professional job sites/work areas.
Properly store, disassemble, or remove all spare and waste materials created on assigned job sites.
Provide assistance and support to senior technician/s on a job.
Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Installation of all types of piping including PVC, copper (brazing), copper line sets Qualifications Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma, GED, or completion from trade program or technical school.
Experience in the construction, refrigeration, HVAC, or other related industry/trade preferred.
Ability to operate a scissor lift or forklift preferred.
Knowledge of job site safety, and ability to perform work by safe work practices and rules.
Ability to use basic power and hand tools including drills, fuel gas tools, electrical meters, measurement tools, etc.
Ability to be punctual and dependable.
Ability to work in a variety of working conditions, including scaling ladders to various heights, outdoors in hot/cold temperatures, in noisy environments, etc.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including fractional addition/subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate timely, clearly, and concisely.
Ability to work constructively in a team environment and follow instructions from senior technicians.
Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
Good driving record.
