**Communications Apprentices'** are employees and have basic employee responsibilities. This level Apprentice will be given instruction and work experience installing basic communication equipment which involves using hand tools and power tools, a basic understanding of electrical blueprints, and knowledge of the NEC. Additionally, each Apprentice must make every effort to become a well-qualified technician. This requires registering for related instruction courses, attending regularly and being on time.
Responsibilities
**Responsible for but not limited to:**
+ Assisting in pulling various types of wiring.
+ Assisting in Site Grounding
+ Assisting in Pulling Low Voltage Cable
+ Assisting in Prefab Assembly installation.
+ Assisting in Core Drilling
+ Assisting in the installation of Cable Tray.

+ Securing company tools daily
+ Assist with monthly tool checks
+ Participating in Job site clean up
+ Handling material.
+ Preparing the work area.
+ Demonstrating effective use of hand tools such as drill motors, sawzalls, hydraulic knockouts punches, etc.
+ Wearing all Personal Safety Equipment
+ Following safety policies and rules
+ Reading, understanding and demonstrating use of Activity Hazard Analysis

Qualifications
**Requirements:**
+ High school diploma or GED are required with 0+ months experience
+ Must be 18 years of age
+ Must have reliable transportation to and from the jobsite and school.
+ Be willing to attend school in the evenings one or two nights a week for three (3) years.
+ This is a 40 hour per week position
+ Overtime work expected when needed
+ Potential of temporary travel may be involved.
**Abilities:**
+ The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
+ Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
+ Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
+ Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
+ Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
+ May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

Job Title: Apprentice Technician Department: Service Reports To: Service Manager or Senior Technician FLSA Status: Non-Exempt The Apprentice Technician supports the daily activities of the Service Team, learning to perform repair and maintenance work under the guidance of experienced technicians. This role involves hands-on training, assisting with field jobs, and contributing to customer satisfaction by helping ensure that all work is completed efficiently and accurately.
Essential Job Functions:
* Learn to diagnose and complete basic repair and maintenance tasks, both in the shop and on-site under supervision.
* Support senior technicians by gathering tools, parts, and service work orders, and preparing the work area.
* Observe and assist in ensuring that all work meets company standards for quality and safety.
* Participate in ongoing training to develop technical skills and product knowledge.
* Maintain a clean, organized workspace, including the equipment yard and shop areas.
* Assist in ensuring a safe working environment by following safety protocols and learning to operate equipment safely.
* Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the Service Manager or senior technicians.
Education and/or Experience:
* High School diploma or equivalent; enrollment in a trade school or technical program preferred.
* Basic mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn.
* Proficiency with basic tools and the ability to learn to use specialized equipment.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
* Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity necessary.
* Ability to lift 70 lbs.
* Ability to operate a forklift safely.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment WorkSTEPS physical.
* Requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen to the satisfaction of McClung-Logan Equipment Company.
* This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
* Must a possess a clean MVR & valid Driver's License
* This job requires the ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
* Requires working and driving outdoors in various climates/temperatures and the possibility of sitting for an extended period.
