Apprentice Level Full Salary Range: Hourly Rate $17.60-$26.40 (depending on related experience and licenses)
* Apprentice-level salary without experience starts at $17.60 per hour and can increase after six months and again after one year. Salary increases are based on progression in training and performance.
* Apprentice-level salary with experience: applicants that already have a CDL, DEQ licenses and/or have experience with heavy equipment and/or the duties of this position, will be reviewed to come in at a rate higher than the entry-level salary.
This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
About the Position
The Field Services Maintenance Apprentice is a heavy labor, mechanical-based position to maintain the City's streets, water distribution systems, and wastewater distribution/collection systems. This position is for anyone who is willing to learn and wants to do a good job with a good attitude. Apprentices have a 4-day workweek with 10-hour days and a working lunch period. They may be asked to work on-call, and there are opportunities for overtime.
Upon hire, the Field Services Maintenance Apprentice will be enrolled in the United States' Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program. Once they complete one year of service and obtain the required skills, they will be reclassified as a Technician I and obtain a higher salary grade. (To date, the City of Edmond is the only municipality that can provide a distinguished DOL Journeyman Certification to Field Service professionals who have passed the Technician-I level.) This progression continues with completed training and years of service to advance to the higher levels in the program. The ability to earn higher pay is directly proportional to progressing through the levels of expertise with demonstrated proficiency.
Options Pay: Additional pay may be earned by obtaining identified job-related certifications, as approved and coordinated through the Field Services Superintendent or his designee. This is a flat amount added to your paycheck on a monthly basis.
Apprentices will shadow and assist their team until they can perform work with minimal supervision. A new hire is on probation for a full year, with performance evaluations completed at six months and at the end of the probation period. As a safety/security sensitive position, the new hire is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug & alcohol screening.
Responsibilities
Street:
* Repair and replace asphalt or concrete paving; crack sealing; and other infrastructure on streets and utility lines
* Set up and remove traffic control devices, including cones, flares, barriers, flashers, and more (may be required to direct traffic)
* Mow and trim grass and foliage as needed
Water:
* Repair and replace damaged water mains and related components
* Tap water mains and install new water service connections
* Install, repair, and maintain water meters and fire hydrants
Wastewater:
* Repair and replace damaged wastewater mains and related components
* Fix blockages from main lines by hydro-cleaning, sawing, and removing the blockage
* Conduct video inspections of main lines
* Execute other maintenance duties related to the water distribution system as needed
* Acquire an entry-level water/wastewater distribution/collection technician certification from ODEQ within 6 months of hire
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* Possess or obtain a valid Class B Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with Tanker and other required endorsements (Must be 18 years of age to obtain your CDL)
* Maintain an acceptable driving record per the City's insurance carrier
* Possess or obtain DEQ Licenses for Water and Wastewater
* Experience in construction, utilities, maintenance, and heavy equipment operation (preferred)
* Experience utilizing tools, operating equipment, and understanding processes and procedures (preferred)
* Willingness to work outside in the elements of all types of weather
* Willingness to work stand-by or call-back hours

ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Welding Apprentice who will Perform welding tasks under supervision on piping and plate within petroleum operations facilities. In addition to welding, the successful candidate must be able to assist in tasks related to welding such as fit‐up, preparation, repair, inspection, and post weld preparation. As required, the Apprentice Welder will also be tasked to assist with general site work such as loading and unloading equipment and materials, site clean‐up and preparation, mobilization, and demobilization to and from the jobsite, scaffolding erection, general tank construction tasks and other duties as assigned.
This role is intended for May 2026 college graduates who majored in an applicable field. As Tepa continues to grow, we are focusing on hiring recent graduates to begin their careers at our organization with opportunities to receive hands-on learning, mentorship, and growth within the company. This is an entry-level position that does not require previous experience but does require completed education in the particular discipline.
Job Functions:
* Follow welding procedure specifications when welding
* Train and assist with performing quality welds able to pass radiographic examination
* Train and assist with performing quality welds using various welding process, such as TIG, GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, etc.
* Train and assist with producing quality welds with efficiency
* Train to perform or assist with fit‐up and preparation of welds

Job Description
Basic Purpose
This is the Engineer Apprentice level, an entry level position where applicants have an interest in gaining exposure and experience in the transportation industry from the perspective of state government; particularly in the areas of highway design, construction, and maintenance. Summer Engineer Apprentices will have the opportunity to gain work experience by participating in highway construction and maintenance activities such as:
Assisting a survey crew
Assisting with traffic hazard surveys
Documenting daily construction activities and project status
Maintaining highway rights-of-way
Repairing highway safety appurtenances
Repairing roads and bridges
Testing and inspecting construction materials
Verifying that project elements are built according to plans and specifications
And much more.
Returning Summer Engineer Apprentices will further their experience by participating in the above activities at a more in-depth level, as well as possibly being assigned to their own project.
Field assignments are available at all 77 Oklahoma counties and are subject to location and availability.
Education and Experience
Education and experience required at this level include a high school diploma (or equivalent), with strong scores in subjects involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Ability is required to perform manual labor; to follow instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Special Requirements
At least 18 years of age,
