The Technician Apprentice is responsible for supporting various areas of activity engaged in by field personnel onsite at client locations. Summary: The Livestock Apprentice Coordinator is responsible for building and implementing the livestock apprentice program at Greenacres. The apprentice program will be a 2-year comprehensive training program to educate farmers on regenerative livestock production, soil health, forage management, business development and marketing outlets. The goal of the program is to graduate apprentices who can confidently enter the field of regenerative agriculture and pursue a successful career. Responsibilities of this position include curriculum building, lesson planning, scheduling and teaching hands on livestock practices. Additionally, this position requires field work to support production goals. Responsibilities: Create and continually develop an apprentice curriculum to prepare farmers for future careers in regenerative agriculture. Develop comprehensive business plan templates for each livestock enterprise. Coordinate lesson days for apprentices and assist other team members in teaching the lesson including handouts, activities, etc. Interview and onboard apprentice candidates. Supervise apprentices and their development. Coordinate farm visits to local regenerative farms. Coordinate apprentice curriculum and teaching with other Greenacres Apprentice Coordinators. Develop a network of post-graduation support for apprentice graduates, e.g. NRCS, Ag lending, grant programs, etc. Coordinate and create educational events based around the apprenticeship program Assist with all aspects of livestock production, including cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, turkeys, broilers and layer hens. Assist with occasional weekend livestock care as needed. Assist in events as needed. Research and participate in conferences/workshops to enhance knowledge of relevant skills and techniques. Ability to travel to other Greenacres farms/locations. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Demonstrated teaching skills and a passion for working with farmers; using hands-on activities in small-group settings. Minimum 3 years' experience in regenerative livestock production and/or regenerative livestock education. High level understanding of regenerative livestock production. Willingness to learn and explain the “why” of everything we do. Commitment to working within a functional team and collaborative culture. Knowledge or proven ability to obtain knowledge of best practices in Agriculture Education. Ability to lift at least 50lbs. Ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise during the completion of duties. Valid driver's license with insurable driving record. Travel is required to other Greenacres Farms as needed.
