The Dock and Door Apprentice will work out of our Atlanta Branch. They will work with the senior technician on a daily basis to aid with planned maintenance service on Loading Docks and learn other repairs. They will also receive training from the training staff. Under close supervision, the Installer Apprentice learns and performs installation, maintenance, and servicing of telecommunications equipment. Upon successful completion of the training phase, apprentices will advance to a Level I Installer role, gaining hands-on field experience while working alongside experienced mentors to handle increasingly complex tasks. Participants will receive: * Paid training, including classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a simulated Central Office (CO) environment. * On-the-job training under the direct supervision of an experienced Level IV Installer mentor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Understands and follows all Telamon established safety practices and procedures. * Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE). * Perform cable installation, termination, labeling, and lacing, adhering to industry standards. * Mount racks, frames, and shelves, ensuring all equipment is securely and correctly installed. * Reads and stays current on installation documentation. * Addition or removal of non-powered equipment/hardware. * Maintains quality awareness and implements quality control processes. * Conducts work assignments, communicates, dresses, and assists customers in a professional manner. * Accurately inventory all job-related material. Managerial Responsibility * No Direct Reports. Travel/Shift Requirements * Must be available to travel as much as 50% - 75% * Travel may require overnight stays away from home for 1-2 weeks at a time, including weekends. * Requires ability to work early morning shifts, occasional evening shifts and infrequent weekend work. * Must have reliable transportation and be able transport minor job-related tools to work locations. Physical Demands * Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and occasionally as much as 100lbs. * Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces. * Work with and around electrical wires and ESD products in a safe manner. * Ability to work onsite in central offices, construction, or installation sites. * Requires fine motor skills and manual dexterity for gripping tools and assembling small components. * Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat, lift, crawl, push, and pull. Skills and Abilities Required * Completion of "Basic Installation" training course or equivalent on-the-job training. * Successful completion of Safety, Business Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) training. * Good eye and hand coordination, manual dexterity, and precision to work well with a variety of hand tools. * Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail by executing installations accurately and ensuring full compliance with industry standards. * Aptitude and interest in technology with the ability to grasp and apply technical concepts. * Basic knowledge of current network products. * Proficiency operating computers, tablets, and MS Office software. * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues. * Ability to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments. * Track and record work hours on a timely basis using time-tracking software. * Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance.
