Apprentices will operate drills all over the Pacific Northwest in the woods, at rock pits, quarries, development sites, and even highway projects. Apprentices may also at times assist the blast crew with loading and unloading explosives from the truck and help carry buckets of crushed stone to stem blast holes. The ideal candidate will be physically fit and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to travel and stay out of town when needed. McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, that has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US. Understands and analyses the technical specifications of mechatronic systems, subsystems, modules and components; performs scheduled, predictive, and preventive maintenance to detect and prevent problems; uses troubleshooting skills to identify and prevent possible problems and failures, and to systematically and intelligently make repairs; incorporates relevant technical literature into the understanding of system operation and coordinate efforts with other technicians involved in installing or maintaining equipment or components; installs, repairs, adjusts, and tests equipment and components to ensure that systems function properly; communicates with machine operators, and operate equipment to detect equipment problems, analyze malfunctions, and verify system problems; and observes and incorporates safety standards and regulations required for safe operation of the system. The Aerial Lift Trimmer is responsible for trimming, pruning, and removing trees with the aid of a bucket truck or other equipment or tools. Previous experience operating an aerial lift trimmer with a tree care company is required. Driver's license is required. Candidates will be dispatched by IBEW. What We Are Looking For * High School diploma or GED equivalent * HVAC Trade school graduate strongly preferred achieving 3.5 GPA and excellent attendance * 1+ years in mechanical support role, some hands on HVAC experience preferred * EPA Certification- Type I & Type II or Universal Preferred * NATE certification a plus * Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record * Ability to climb ladders * Moderate lifting (up to 90 pounds) * Technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service, and troubleshoot equipment * Excellent Customer Service Skills * Good Electrical and Mechanical Diagnostic Skills * Ability to complete repairs and required paperwork * Ability to work independently and self-schedule * Self-motivated to complete assigned tasks within time constraints * Driven to succeed and able to work with minimum supervision * Availability for weekend and night work occasionally. * Must be willing to relocate to another part of country once training is completed * Local travel may be required Physical Requirements: Technicians install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial, rooftop HVAC units. This work is often done independently. As such, Technicians must be able to safely: * Get themselves and necessary tools/equipment onto the rooftop - typically via fixed/extension ladder. * Work at heights * Load and unload tools/equipment from work van * Lifting occasionally up to 75lbs. * Lifting to shoulder and overhead occasionally up to 25 lbs. * Push/pull wheeled cart up to 150 lbs. * Climb ladder up to roof height. * Extend reach overhead in a repetitive motion. * Manual tandem lifting load up to 125 lbs What We Offer Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $33,000 - $41,000. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
