The Lead Machine Operator will be primarily responsible for the daily operation and preventative routine maintenance of the high-speed bottling line machines and line equipment. Requires the ability to maintain focus on the overall quality and efficiency of the machine's operation. Responsible for hands-on training of new associates and cross training associates. Guide and synchronize the flow of materials, project priorities, changeovers, safety, quality, and daily production goals and objectives. Indirectly responsible for the actions of production associates assigned to the bottling line. Other key responsibilities include: Work in collaboration with production management to prioritize daily production jobs scheduled for the bottling line. Efficiently set up, calibrate, and organize all aspects of the bottling machine and line equipment in preparation for daily production runs. Maintain and enforce an organized work cell. Accurately review and confirm production information on customer work orders prior to the start of production. Clearly communicate to team members production details and requirements to ensure production output conforms to quality, customer, and safety standards. Thorough knowledge of all production processes, procedures, and mechanical instructions that are applicable to bottling line equipment. Read and comprehend manufacturing operating manuals. Perform approved routine maintenance as scheduled. Actively participate in any production role as needed to successfully meet the demands of the business. Provide guidance and mentoring to assigned team, equally maintain fair and ethical standards. Work closely with supervisor to resolve personnel concerns. Attend production meetings as required. Provide updates, identify bottlenecks, and review material or potential labor shortages and/or last-minute change orders. Proactively seek resolutions to issues and make recommendations for improvement. Accurately track, record, and maintain production records and report out results as required. With strong attention to detail, anticipate and recognize mechanical issues and/or production errors with or without clear precedent. Responsible for housekeeping of the general production area around the machine including sweeping, picking up of loose items, and prepping the machine for change orders and next day production. Maintain a high degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others; wear and enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as requirements. Familiarization with the product lines, required documentation requirements, and the production processes. Basic to moderate mechanical skills with the abilities to understand and conduct machine set up, change overs, and resolve mechanical issues. Verbal communication skills with the ability to follow and provide directions effectively. Able to work overtime as required to meet business needs. Speak, read and write English clearly in order to read and interpret technical manuals and/or instructions. Wear appropriate PPE as required by Company and OSHA standards.
