The Colorado pay range for this position is from $15 to $21 per hour. Exact rate of pay will be based on position and experience level.
Responsible for the achievement of the store's budgeted sales goals by driving sales in the aquatics area through effectively assisting customers in the proper selection of aquatic life and merchandise in accordance with their specific needs. Accountable for ensuring that proper aquatic care and husbandry is being provided to our aquatic life in the store, and act as the primary resource regarding all aquatic life and aquatic supply education and care. This position will receive day to day direction and coaching from the Companion Animal Department Manager.
Key Accountabilities
1. Responsible for ensuring the presentation of the entire aquatic department meets or exceeds company standards.
2. Responsible for ensuring appropriate in-stock levels for both aquatic life and aquatic supplies
3. Apply appropriate judgment to aquatic life health and conditions based on presentation and behavior and take appropriate corrective actions (e.g. medicate, water change, remove from sale, etc.)
4. Place orders or special orders on all aquatic life or supplies (for home store only) in order to drive sales and meet customer's needs.
5. Partner with Store Leadership to write schedules for the aquatics department to ensure full coverage during the busiest periods as well as allowing for all care and maintenance to be completed.
6. Assign all necessary aquatics tasks to associates within the aquatics area including most aquatics maintenance duties.
7. Schedule and perform training with all aquatics associates to help educate them on aquatic life and supplies information and selling techniques.
8. Manage all aquatic life orders. Manage the aquatics supply special order process.
9. Partner with Store Leadership on all hiring, training and corrective actions for aquatics associates.
10. The Senior Aquatics Sales Specialist should spend most of their time assisting customers, selling products, and training aquatics associates.
11. Perform all special or other projects as assigned.

For 86 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation.
Each and every day girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing amount of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know they have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth, allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills, conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Clubs also provide members with positive role models and a nurturing environment that help improve decision-making skills.Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of the
patrons and members at their assigned club/aquatics facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Essential Functions:
Cooperate with other staff in implementing aquatics programs and activities with other Club
programs and activities, as well as in meeting programmatic objectives and outcomes
established for the Club.
Treat pool with the appropriate concentration of chemicals on a regular basis
Monitor pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identify safety issues
Direct all swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions and report any unsafe conditions to
your manager
Maintain a clean and safe environment in and around pool area
Consistently incorporate “high yield learning activities” in all aquatics youth programs.
Assist or take charge in crisis or emergency situations per established BGCDE and Ellis &
Associates’ policies and guidelines.
Directly supervise children and youth within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of
Delaware and the Aquatics Director.
Assist in the guidance and discipline of Club members and other patrons in your area of
responsibility.
Complete and submit reports, and perform other administrative tasks as needed or directed.
Contribute toward development of a positive identity and strong presence for the Boys & Girls
Clubs in the community.
Must complete the required in-service trainings and pass regular VAT (Visual Awareness
Training) drills.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
For the most part, environmental and working conditions are indoors; various meeting
locations in and out of the Club; local and occasional statewide travel required; occasional
outdoor events and other activities.
This position does require you to work in an area where chemicals are present.
The indoor conditions that you will be working in will contain chlorine vapors and some
areas contain high pressure CO2 storage. The average air temperature is 86 degrees and
the water temperature is on average 84 degrees
Employees are subject to transfer from one department to another and from one
club/school site to another as the needs of the organization change.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations, general knowledge of First
Aid/CPR/AED, First Aid Rescue Breathing and handling of a spinal injury. If not certified
must be willing to become certified before the start date, and must have general
knowledge of pools and lifeguarding.
Must be a certified Ellis and Associates Lifeguard and Basic Leadership certified, or willing
and able to become certified in these areas.
A minimum of one year lifeguard experience or pool operations is preferred.
Must possess a current Jeff Ellis Lifeguarding Certification.
Must be certified in CPR, First Aid Rescue Breathing and the handling of a spinal injury.
Physical Requirements:
Maintain a high energy level.
Ability to provide rescue assistance to any patron in distress
Must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping
Must be able to tread water without using hands for 1 minute
Must be able to retrieve a ten pound brick from the deep end of the pool
Must be able to operate all emergency medical and lifesaving equipment
Regularly speak clearly and hear spoken word
Working Hours - Monday- Friday- 6:15AM - 12:15PM or 2;30PM- 8:30PM; Occasionally Saturday as needed.
