In-person written testing will be held on the following dates: December 18, 2025 January 14, 2026 January 29, 2026 If selected, you will receive training in law enforcement concepts by attending a sponsored POST Academy to prepare for an assignment in our detention facility. After certification in the academy, this position will focus on enforcing laws, rules and regulations and following the procedures of the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility. This will include areas such as booking, prisoner care, security and transportation. This is an appointed position that works at the pleasure of the Sheriff. After successful completion of the POST Academy, you must successfully complete a one year assignment in the Detention Facility before being eligible to assess for patrol. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. Responsible for the safe operation of a county vehicle. + Completion of Colorado State Division of Property Taxation "Appraiser II" and "Appraiser III" courses or similar accredited courses. + Distinguished from the Appraiser II by the level of complexity of assignments and the ability to work independently. + Work in this position is standardized and is characterized by a multitude of operations to achieve results; considerable analysis and correlation of facts is required. Work may be checked upon completion and impact of error should be minor, requiring minimal time to trace and correct. + This position requires successful completion of pre-employment background and motor vehicle checks. **WORK ENVIRONMENT:** Work is generally performed in the field and requires moderate exposure to weather elements and the hazards associated with the new building construction or land site development. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** + Walks or stands about 90% of the time while in the field. + Spends 75% of the time sitting and 25% of the time either standing or walking. + Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs. + Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs. + Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties. + Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions. + Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment. + Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment. **Definitions:** + Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time. + Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time. + Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time. _** Arapahoe County does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation or any other status protected under the law.
