What a day is like:
Daily focus is working together on a General Tree Care crew to provide high quality tree care to our clients. The Tree Care Team is involved in all aspects of tree climbing, pruning, removals, cable bracing and other concepts related to tree care. Team members are able to safely operate all equipment and perform the assigned job tasks while also providing excellent service to our clients.
What kind of person are we looking for? Someone with:
- Experience with proper pruning practices including large shade trees and ornamentals
- Ability to identify native and introduced tree and shrub species and have a working knowledge of each species’ characteristics
- Ability to climb without spurs
- Experience with tree care safety standards
- Practical knowledge of chainsaw and equipment operation
- Valid Driver’s license, CDL a plus
- previous tree climbing experience a plus
- Experience with aerial lifts (bucket truck)

This is a full time, year round, outdoor, physical labor opportunity. Duties include : driving and operating a bucket truck, running a crew of 2 to 3 people, manual removal of vegetation from work areas, running various forestry equipment and performing line clearance, pruning, and removals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current and Valid CDL A or B with Air Brake endorsement Preferred.
Must have previous experience in the Tree Industry with a proven Safety Record.
Must be 18 years of age with a High School Diploma/GED/or equivalent.
Must be able to work outside in various types of weather.
Must be physically able to perform the requirements of the position.
Must be willing and able to learn how to operate a bucket 75 ft. in the air & operate all equipment safely.
Must be willing and able to learn how to climb trees using the proper tools of the trade.
Must be willing and able to obtain, and maintain licenses & certifications as required by the position in order to grow your career (this is paid for by Lucas Tree Experts).
Must be able to successfully complete a post offer physical & drug screen as well as a background and motor vehicle check.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Operate all heavy equipment, being adept in the use of a bucket truck and high reach to prune, move, install, and remove trees. Being proficient in the operation and maintenance of all 2-cycle equipment i.e.: Chain saws, power pole saws, and back-pack or handheld blowers. Complete Maximo Work Orders.
+ Climb trees for proper maintenance and removal, within UO climbing and rigging guidelines. Including the ability to perform specific climbing knots i.e.: Bowline hitch, half hitch, double half hitch, and slip knot
+ Rigging trees for proper pruning and removal by applying the essential techniques used for tree felling
+ Identification of proper tree nutrition and/or deficiencies.
+ Stakes and guys trees according to UO Horticulture standards.
+ Provide correct hand signals for heavy equipment operation and rental cranes to insure safe operation.
+ Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High school degree or GED preferred
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Years: in arboriculture settings; or equivalent combination of education and experience.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Class B CDL required; ISA Arborist Certification preferred; MOT (Maintenance Of Traffic) certification from DOT required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This job requires extensive physical job duties and the ability to climb and trim trees at long intervals. In addition to the use of specific knot tying, strategic climbing, and the use of power tools while in the trees and on the ground. Must have the ability to operate and work out of a bucket truck and high reach at heights up to but not limited to 50 feet.
