Responsibilities
Responsible for safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes while driving a bus.
Maintain a valid NYS commercial driver's license (Minimum class C) with an unrestricted passenger endorsement. Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate and comply with all NYS Vehicle and Traffic laws, NYS DMV 19A rules and regulations.
Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary while bus driving.
Provides supervision and assists passengers on the bus during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops. Demonstrates safe and correct use of wheelchair lifts, seat belts, Q-Straints, etc. Demonstrates proper lifting techniques when transferring passengers from a wheel chair to the bus.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old.
HS diploma/GED preferred and one year of experience or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
No moving violations for 12 Months prior to hire.
Valid NYS Commercial Driver's License class C with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement or willing to acquire within thirty days of hire.
Must be Department of Motor Vehicles 19‑A certifiable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Unloads product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and places in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards (e.g., handling product according to preferred work methods, scanning product as it is delivered into the store).
Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g., DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre- and post-trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoices are accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages are reported promptly).
Ensures all food safety protocols are met according to established guidelines (e.g., proper temperatures are maintained in the delivery vehicle, product is inspected for visible damages prior to delivery, product is delivered and stored to prevent cross contamination) and maintains sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer; assists with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse and yard.
Develops and establishes good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of a tractor trailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to a high school diploma.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: DOT regulations; Hazmat guidelines; Safe lifting and delivery practices.
Skill in: driving over long distances, over a variety of terrains and in varying weather conditions, communicating with customers; solving problems; delivering product.
Ability to: drive a tractor-trailer unit both in the day and at night in a variety of traffic and weather conditions and remain alert and aware of surroundings; meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company; handle hazardous materials and food and restaurant items that are frozen, dry and refrigerated; operate a 3 axle tractor, 45' - 48' trailer, straight truck, on board computer, key pad and a 2 wheel hand cart; ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records ; perform basic math functions (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide); effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; solve problems.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns, and transports products back to SYGMA warehouse.
Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g. DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre and post-trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoices are accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages are reported promptly).

Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. The Driver, Dedicated Backhaul is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer (day cab/sleeper), tandem trailer and/or straight trucks on intrastate and/or interstate routes to pick up logistics' loads and/or other related food and non-food product loads in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The Driver, Dedicated Backhaul is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and/or PFG warehouse locations according to a predetermined route and delivery schedule. The schedule and route types may be local and/or over-the-road, i.e., layovers. Over-the-road schedule length will vary based on the location's business needs.
Delivers assigned loads back to PFG warehouse locations for receiving into inventory. Ensures timely pick-ups and the right product is received and loaded.
Performs appropriate load and paperwork inspections including but not limited to product counts, invoices of products that have been loaded, quality checks and other related items as required.
Check and complete in an accurate and legible fashion all the required paperwork associated with backhaul operations.
Routinely check in with direct supervisor to confirm route, load, and schedule. Advise direct supervisor of load drop-off/pick-up issues, schedule changes and other related information. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

1+ years commercial driving experience

Valid CDL-A

Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas.
Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
Collects money (cash or checks) where required. Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors.
Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.
Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork. Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To serve our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from the warehouse by driving a tractor trailer to various customers and properly delivering and unloading product according to customer invoices and company standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely transports product from the warehouse to the customer location and ensures product is delivered on a timely basis, according to assigned route.
Unloads product from trailer, by hand or using hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions and places in designated customer storage areas according to customer specifications and company standards (e.g. handling product according to preferred work methods, scanning product as it is delivered into the store).
Picks up, loads and unloads damaged goods and customer returns, and transports products back to SYGMA warehouse.
Ensures all paperwork is completed according to established company and governmental guidelines (e.g. DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports and pre and post-trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, ensures all invoices are accurate and turned in daily and all damages and shortages are reported promptly).
Ensures all food safety protocols are met according to established guidelines (e.g. proper temperatures are maintained in the delivery vehicle, product is inspected for visible damages prior to delivery, product is delivered and stored to prevent cross contamination) and maintains sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer; assists with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse and yard.
Follows preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advises management team of any unsafe conditions.
Maintains and safely operates all assigned equipment, including but not limited to hand cart, pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment.
Develops and establishes good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
Communicates with management team regarding any deviations to route, trailer or loading issues and/or customer or product issues.
Safely transports product picked up via backhauls and line hauls and ensures picked up product is correct and is delivered on a timely basis, according to established company standards.

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED/equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of a tractor trailer driving school will be accepted instead of, or in addition to a high school diploma.
Commercial Vehicle Drivers must have the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

About the Role:
As a core member of our transportation team, you will be expected to:
Work independently to line haul products primarily to to Erie, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Syracuse, NY; Elmira, NY; Toledo,OH; Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH; or Cleveland, OH.
Work with dynamic teams, including: delivery drivers, line haul assistants, and warehouse teams.
Typically work Sunday thru Thursday evenings leaving approximately between 4pm & 8pm. This may include working on the evening of some holidays. Some locations require leaving earlier in the day.
Flexibility to travel overnight for some locations.
A Line haul assistant may be available to help transfer product to distribution truck.

Maintain a valid NY driver's license, minimum of a Class D.
Responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of all persons assigned to designated routes as a bus driver. Adheres to routes and operates vehicle(s) in a manner which assures passenger safety.
Responds to individual needs of passengers and report any issues to a supervisor. Utilizes two-way radio to contact base when necessary.
Provides supervision and assists passengers during loading and unloading of vehicle at designated stops.
