Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge. Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly. Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area. Document patient care in the electronic medical record. Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies. Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
