Role Description:
Arcadis is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA vicinity. The location will be determined based on the qualified candidate. Role accountabilities:
Support various VDOT project leadership and collaborate with other project leads to ensure alignment across all initiatives.
Oversee engineering and construction services, ensuring they align project objectives and administrative requirements.

Develop a process to review comments, assess dispositions, and resolve them promptly.
Lead a technical issues escalation process to address and resolve issues early and at the lowest level possible.
Record and manage key engineering and construction decisions, ensuring documentation is available to support defense against potential future change orders and claims.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
10+ years' experience in transportation infrastructure development and construction industry
Experience working on VDOT projects, including familiarity with VDOT Standards & Specifications
Working knowledge of construction administration, including financial processes, budgets and schedules
Key Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated skill in maneuvering through complex political situations with sensitivity to how people and organizations function, as well as negotiating and leading discussions to reach positive outcomes.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience to manage, coordinate, and oversee multiple project support efforts to meet on-time, on-budget, high quality business objectives.
Demonstrated knowledge of public policy and business practices related to transportation issues.
Ability to lead meetings and provide proactive solutions to field construction problems and design changes.
Experience with performing constructability reviews.

Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations

COMPENSATION

The successful candidate will be a part of a team that provides design support for large, medium, and small-scale substation engineering projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who wants to learn and take on new challenges.
In the role of Transmission Line Engineer, we'll count on you to:
* Perform routine and detailed design tasks.
* Perform analysis, engineering calculations, and developing construction documents for a variety of structures.
* Lead transmission line design projects and coordinate with engineering staff, clients, and project managers.
* May assist in verifying code compliance, quality checks, meeting project schedules and budget as well as coordinate the civil/structural engineering work with other disciplines and CAD designers.
* Experience or desire to perform civil design for site utilities and overhead lines.
* The candidate may work on the conceptual and detailed design activities for power, industrial and institutional projects.
* Must be capable of effective communication; work in a team-oriented manner and possess analytical and organizational skills.
* Conducting analyses to develop design options.
* Assisting with preparing cost estimates or specifications.
* Perform routine engineering and design tasks.
* Participate in field reviews or construction observation.
Due to client contract requirements, US-born citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
* 5 years of transmission line design experience.
* Experience using PLS-CADD, performing structure analysis, preparing project cost estimates, plan and profile preparation, performing design optimization, preparing specifications and drawings, and other engineering documents required for power transmission line projects.
* Overhead power transmission is the focus of this position although any underground transmission experience would be helpful.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and Engineering Math Software.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Some travel may be required.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
* Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
* Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software. (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
