Arcadis seeks a Business Development Lead for California's Water/Wastewater Construction group, with 20 or more years' experience, to join our Water Construction Management team in our San Francisco, CA office.
Arcadis has significantly grown its municipal water team and construction management services in Northern California over the past few years. Role accountabilities:
As the Business Development Lead for California's Water/Wastewater Construction group you will play a key part in driving marketing efforts, recruiting top talent, and leading teams to deliver winning proposals and impactful presentations.
You will provide hands-on leadership throughout all phases of construction projects, overseeing daily activities, managing contracts, and ensuring quality assurance and control. Regular client updates and progress reporting will be a core part of your responsibilities. You'll also monitor contractor performance, site safety, and the work of subcontractors and suppliers, proactively communicating any changes or deviations from plan.
This role involves managing scopes of work and budgets, and working closely with project and program managers to ensure engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations. You'll supervise and mentor junior technical staff, fostering their development and ensuring high standards of work.
Strong communication skills are essential as you'll lead meetings on project progress, safety, scheduling, and contract administration with clients, agencies, and community stakeholders. You'll also recommend improvements to project costs, budgets, and schedules, using tools such as Primavera or MS Project. Additionally you'll serve as a liaison to design staff, helping to gather field information and respond to RFIs, correspondence, and shop drawing reviews.
Key Attributes:
You will bring proven excellence in client management and project delivery, backed by strong leadership experience and effective communication skills. You will need to be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with particular expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which you will use regularly to support project documentation, analysis, and presentations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
20 years' total experience, with a minimum of 10 years of construction experience on water wastewater plants & facilities projects as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction.
California PE
Experience managing construction budgets and schedules including estimating and change order negotiating.
Preferred Qualifications
20+ years of construction experience specifically related to water or wastewater facilities, with a minimum of 10 years' experience on projects as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager on a $50+ million water/wastewater project.
Masters degree in Engineering, Construction or a BS in these fields and an MBA.
In addition to the PE, a CCM is also highly desired.
Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
Previous experience successfully leading project pursuits include both developing proposal approaches and overseeing making presentations to major clients and agencies.

Primary Responsibilities
Our Northern California Transportation Business Group is looking for a strong Senior Environmental Transportation Planner with a thorough understanding and experience both supporting and managing a range of project types. The successful candidate for this position will be involved with working with our client, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in addition to other transportation agencies. The Senior Environmental Planner will report to the Environmental Transportation Planning Section Manager and will be an interdisciplinary team member who participates in transportation project development; prepares environmental analysis of proposed projects and design alternatives; identifies environmental impacts and formulates measures to mitigate impacts; prepares environmental clearance documents for infrastructure projects in compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal laws, regulations and policies, and has the ability to participate in construction monitoring and compliance reporting.
This role will support the environmental planning and engineering teams in our local and regional transportation infrastructure practice.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in planning, preparation and analysis/review of CEPA/NEPA documents and permits for transportation clients including roadways/highways, transit, bicycle/trail, railways, ports, and aviation clients.
Responsibilities will include and not be limited to:

As a Data Center Substation Engineering Manager (EM) in a well-established Power Delivery practice, you'll draw upon your broad technical knowledge and experience in design and construction of high voltage substation projects to lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. As a Data Center Substation Engineering Manager, your role will encompass the following:
* Develops a partnership with a PM, whereas the PM is responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and client management, and the EM is responsible for leading the technical team and execution of the project deliverables.
* Develops and implements a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.
* Assigns project tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members.
* Supports the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
* Works independently and will direct, mentor, and/or train, one or more Project Engineers, EIT's, or CADD/Designers.
* Coordinates and/or performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client. Performs quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis.
* Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
* Works with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and will attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline.
* May also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
* Participates in project reviews as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
* Masters degree in Engineering
* Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
* Minimum 8 years of technical design experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects of varying complexity up to 500kV preferred, including at a minimum, conceptual knowledge of physical, electrical, civil, and structural design components, and knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and other applicable design and equipment standards.
* Experience with substation design for 12kV thru 500kV desired, experience thru 765kV an added benefit.
* Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.).
* Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills preferred.

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Environmental Engineer to join our team in San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and team building skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic workflow.
As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Senior Scientists, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. This opportunity is to support our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities.
Role accountabilities:
Our services encompass a range of responsibilities aimed at engineering design and optimization support for treatment systems. You will specialize in providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects underway, catering to both the US Federal Government and industrial clients.
You will actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, pilot programs, and full-scale remedial efforts. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering effective communication by engaging in face-to-face meetings with clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities could include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include periodic travel.
These responsibilities may include:
Operation and maintenance oversight for remediation systems (both water and vapor treatment systems)
Design and oversight of system improvement projects as well as system upgrades
Soil and groundwater investigation and sample collection
Site characterization, remedial design, and feasibility studies
Data compilation, evaluation, and QA/QC
Report writing, permitting, cost estimating support
Coordination with project managers and senior engineering staff
The successful candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and analytical data in order to prepare engineering designs, permit applications, and construction-related documents. Environmental remediation design tasks, including soil and groundwater remedial system and in-situ technology treatment design and assessments are also a part of this exciting role. This position will require travel and field work.
In summary, an ideal candidate for the position would have proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, a focus on health and safety, and excellent teambuilding and organizational abilities. These attributes will contribute to their success in the role and enable them to make valuable contributions to projects. Field work will require regional business travel for up to 1-2 days per week on average. A few times per year, travel will be required within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time. Estimated travel is up to 75% during the first two years, with travel reduced with career growth. By the third year, travel for field work is typically 50%. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
