Archbishop Carroll High School history

The standard bearers for breaking down this barrier were the Carroll basketball teams of 1958-60, who amassed a 55-game winning streak despite racist pressures from many quarters.

Prior to this point, Bishop Howard J. Carroll had established St Joseph Academy for Girls and Aquinas Hall for Boys, both in Ebensburg, in September 1959.

Doors were opened to Carroll students for the first time on September 6, 1961

Archbishop Carroll High Schools' history begins in 1967, originally two separate secondary schools, Archbishop John Carroll for Boys and Archbishop John Carroll for Girls.

1971 was the first undefeated season for a varsity football team

New band room and wrestling room additions to the original building were opened in 1973

Start of soccer on the varsity level in 1975

That commitment was renewed in the 1980's and 90's by Robert Hoderny, a teacher who began the social justice course at Carroll and demanded that students be critical thinkers, social activists, and filled with school spirit.

Athletes began competition in the Mid Miami League in the fall of 1987
