We serve a Preschool-8th enrollment of approximately 600 students in a Christ-centered, nurturing, and academic environment. High School Teaching/Theology Teacher Campus Minister GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Campus Minister is hired by the principal and is accountable to the Spiritual Director and Principal, and may work with or report to the Assistant Principal and/or President on some projects or activities. The Campus Minister's primary responsibility is to enhance the Catholic identity of Bishop Noll Institute and to help all members of the school community grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ in Mind, Body, and Soul. SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Essential Job Functions In relation to the STUDENTS: Offer experiences that help students grow in their knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic faith and traditions. Collaborate with the Spiritual Director to implement a comprehensive retreat program for all students at all grade levels. Prepare and conduct a wide range of liturgical celebrations for the school community. Moderate student groups to address social concerns/charities, prepare for school liturgies, Catholic Schools Week, Baccalaureate Mass, and other ministry-based activities. Prepare students for peer ministry roles as altar servers, lectors, and extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. Collaborate with the Spiritual Director to mentor select students in Christian Leadership as Campus Ministry interns during the school day. Work with students selected as retreat leaders, providing proper training, including leadership experiences. Facilitate sacramental experiences for students. Maintain an open and welcoming environment where students may share, confide, and discuss personal issues. Coordinate the Christian Service program for students and provide information and training about the MobileServe online application used for recording service hours. Regularly communicate with parents regarding student retreats, Christian Service for students, and other Campus Ministry activities. In relation to the ADMINISTRATION: Keep the Principal apprised of matters pertaining to faculty/student involvement relative to Campus Ministry responsibilities, including the scheduling of student retreats and faith formation events on and off campus. Consult with the Assistant Principal of Student Life regarding the annual budgetary needs of Campus Ministry activities. Work with the Assistant Principal of Student Life to avoid any scheduling conflicts. Collaborate with the Assistant Principal of Student Life to coordinate ministry events with other extracurricular activities and events. Assist in the day-to-day operations of the school as requested by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal. Serve as the Safe Environment Coordinator for Bishop Noll Institute, facilitating mandated adult training, criminal background checks, and record-keeping as required by the Diocese of Gary and the Principal. Communicate regularly with the Spiritual Director on the spiritual, emotional, sacramental, and liturgical needs of students, faculty, and staff. In Relation to the FACULTY and STAFF: Include members of the faculty and staff as adult leaders for all student-based retreats, especially for the overnight retreats. Communicate regularly with all faculty and staff regarding Campus Ministry events. Maintain an open and welcoming environment where faculty and staff may share, confide, and discuss personal or professional issues. Communicate with the Facilities Department regarding special preparations necessary for liturgical celebrations, retreats, and other Campus Ministry events in the Fieldhouse, Cafeteria, Media Center, Auditorium, or other areas of the school. In Relation to the DIOCESE and COMMUNITY-AT-LARGE: Maintain regular and open communication with the Diocese of Gary's Office of the Bishop, the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, the Office of Human Resources (safe environment), and the Office of Liturgy and Worship. Maintain a positive, working relationship with the Campus Ministry offices of our other two Diocesan high schools, Andrean and Marquette. Communicate with local parish youth ministry programs as needed. Work closely with retreat centers, bus companies, and other vendors as needed for the planning of on-campus and off-campus ministry events. Represent Bishop Noll Institute at local or Diocesan functions at the request of the Principal and/or President. The BNI overnight student retreat program will require you to be away from home for several days in a row, multiple times per year.
