You will gain knowledge of the facility, general department knowledge, and handle tasks through completion of tasks and look for ways to improve the process and personal performance. Essential Job Functions: Maintain, monitor and adjust equipment Utilize computer systems to input and record data as required in regard to safety, sanitation, maintenance, and processing equipment operation Work in a fast-paced environment to complete various processes including weighing, bagging, packing, unpacking, labeling, and storing products and sanitizing around facility (sweeping, vacuuming, painting, oiling, greasing, compressed air cleaning etc.) Interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment Communicate with team/shift employees concerning proper operation of equipment, changes in flow rates or processing capabilities safety concerns, product quality issues and maintenance issues Understand and adhere to ADM's Safety, Environmental Compliance and Food Quality and goal of achieving a zero-injury culture. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment Exhibit regular and prompt attendance and maintain attendance record in accordance with company policy Operating equipment associated with the loadout and unloading process for bulk materials including trucks and/or rail cars, track mobile, forklifts, skid steers, utilizing scales, pumps, conveyor, etc. Learn and follow written rules and procedures, produce accurate documentation, be willing and able to learn other jobs to fill in for temporary or permanent vacancies Other duties as assigned Requirements: Must be 18 years or older Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written) High School diploma or equivalent Experience in production and/or similar military environment (preferred) On-the-Job Training Requirements: Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training Participate in company planned operations training Equipment training may include but not limited to JLG, forklift, Non-DOT truck, reach lift, etc. Working Conditions Ambient conditions - Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Hot or cold Temperatures, all seasonal elements, both indoors and outdoors Atmosphere: Dust (Peanut - known allergen), cotton, canola seed, and odor Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift Company provided protective clothing required: Uniforms, hardhats, earplugs, safety glasses, hair restraints, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and safety harness may be required based on task performed; employees are required to wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) (i.e., hard-hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements. *Employees in roles that require respirators will need to be clean shaven. The Production Operator may work in one of three areas - Spooling, Stranding or Closing, and is responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of those around the machines. The Production Operator works under the direct supervision of a Production Supervisor and the technical oversight of the Process Engineering and Quality department. Duties & Responsibilities Record set-up information at the start of each order. Remove empty bobbins from the previously completed order and load full bundles of wire or bobbins using appropriate lifting devices. Weld or knot new wire new supply to trailing end of previous order (if applicable). Thread machine by pulling wire or strands through guides, tension rollers, and/or stranding or pre-forming heads. Secure, install and adjust the proper dies, stranding/pre-forming head, crushing rollers, post-former and carboloy rings as required by the order. Set the proper lay according to order specifications. Adjust tension and die pressure at the beginning of the order and as required throughout the entire order. Start lube pump as required by the order. Inspect and replace tensioning devices as needed. Inspect the set-change, including cutting a strand for helix-height measurement before requesting approval from the production supervisor. Properly tag product, stage in proper storage area, and record all production. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Perform all job duties in accordance with work instructions and quality standards. Monthly Incentives - (opportunity to earnafter probationarytraining period) Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Required Qualifications Must be able to work this schedule: Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5am to 5pm (Weekend Shift). Some areas of the plant and assigned tasks will be dirty and dusty. Production Associates perform work such as shoveling piles of material, unplugging chutes, as well as cleaning up areas of the plant around crushers, elevators, and conveyors as directed. Production Associates are also required to assist in routine plant maintenance on planned down days. This includes helping with basic repairs and maintaining production equipment including patching holes in chutes and ductwork, changing screens, and cleaning out bins and ductwork. Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as bobcat skid steers, front end loaders, dump trucks, and vacuum trucks as required (on the job training is provided for all equipment). Ensure the plant areas meet or exceed all safety standards for SGI and all work is performed safely. Changes heads, bonnets, pins and shafts, if necessary. Cleans water lines, steam nozzles, water jets, and water drains as needed. Maintains proper lubricants in all die boxes and replenishes as needed. Removes spool or coil from the machine, replaces empty spool, starts machine, and ties up bundle or spool. Ensures that all material is properly tagged and placed on proper pallets or skids. Checks machines, tools, and auxiliary equipment to be sure they are operating efficiently and safely. Performs minor maintenance to correct problems and ensures maintenance is notified of problems requiring corrective action. Regularly performs safety inspections in the area and corrects problems where possible. Reports other problems to maintenance or Supervisor for corrective action.
