Summary: Shoals Technologies, a global renewable energy organization, is hiring a CAD Designer. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Integration and has responsibility for the generation of all 2D CAD files that represent the products, systems, subsystems or components under development. The CAD Designer will be responsible for the fit-up of products, systems and subsystems at the assembly level, as well as, developing and maintaining all engineering documentation relating to the bills of material. Qualifications 5+ years of experience with CAD and / or Revit Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is required Knowledge and experience working with computers is required. Experience in the Fire Protection / Automatic Sprinkler industry is preferred. Knowledge working with the following software is preferred; Navisworks, Hydratec (HydraCAD, HydraCAD for Revit, Hydralist & Hydracalc) and/or HASS calculation program Demonstration of relationship building, customer service and interpersonal skills is required. Problem solving, leadership and listening skills is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is required. Ability to learn quickly, is required. Responsibilities Develop drawings for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems, which are to be installed in commercial and residential buildings. These drawings will be produced in accordance with the building set of construction drawings, so the ability to read construction plans is a must. Drawings must be submitted to and approved by both the OAC team (Owner, Architect, Engineer and General Contractor) and the Building Codes office. Drawings must be designed in accordance with applicable codes, so a thorough understanding of NFPA codes is necessary. Drawings are produced using both AutoCAD and HydraCAD software in 2-D and 3-D applications. Coordination between trades is necessary whether it be done in an old-school application or performed using BIM software in a 3-D model. The A/S System piping must be sized based upon the available water supply. A hydraulic analysis is performed using either Hydratec or HASS software. Fabrication lists are provided with Hydratec software. All A/S piping is prefabricated by a third-party fabrication shop and shipped to the jobsite for installation. Work closely with the General Contractor to ensure the project is installed: In compliance with the construction drawings, on schedule, and within budget. Drawings must be approved and fabrication lists be prepared on time in order to meet the construction schedule. Changes to the scope of the project must be identified, and change order requests must be submitted to the G.C. for incorporation into the project scope. Work closely with our co-workers. Common material purchases will be coordinated through our shop manager. Pipe installation will be coordinated through both our field superintendent and our field crews. Change order requests will be coordinated with our sales staff. Job site visits will be required to ensure that our installation is being installed in accordance with our approved sprinkler drawings. Job site visits will also be required to attend scheduled meetings with the General contractor. Establish relationships with general contractors, vendors, codes officials and co-workers to establish a profitable project. We want the G.C. to look forward to working with us again. Job Title: Jr. Architect (Part Time) Salary: Based on experience and other relevant factors. Will be discussed with manager in interview REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen Duties/Responsibilities: Possess and maintain proficiency in the knowledge of building codes and references related to construction of facilities and surrounding site work. Ability to read and understand requirements described on construction drawings. Perform architectural planning, design, construction support, and maintenance evaluation activities related to government buildings, test stands, and laboratory facilities, including the development of facilities design criteria statements, drawings, and specifications. Evaluate, select, and apply standard architectural and interior design principles and theory to facilities related projects. Perform field investigations of existing facilities as required to accomplish assigned tasks. Coordinate architectural work with other design team members in a total design process, to produce contract design drawings for construction activities. Support the development of cost estimates associated with proposed construction activities. Review construction submittals to ensure proper requirements are met. Respond to Requests for Information (RFI's) developed during the construction period. Participate in pre-final and final inspections. Verify accuracy of red-lined drawings produced by the Construction Contractor. Assist client Project Managers as needed during all phases of facilities planning, design, construction, and maintenance activities. Maintain orderly working files for reference as needed. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited architectural program Intent to obtain Registered Architect professional status Three or more years' experience is a plus Experience in architectural design conforming to International Building Code standards is a plus Ability to manage projects throughout the planning, design, and construction document phases, performing calculations, design drafting, reviewing of construction submittals, responding to requests for information, etc., is a plus Ability and willingness to assist designers, drafters, and other staff members in various ways that contribute to successful completion of design deliverables Knowledge and demonstrated experience in Autodesk or Bentley Microstation CAD Must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license and be insurable.
