The work will be divided into three main phases:
Phase 1: Technology Analysis and Benchmarking
Objective:

Job Description
This role provides design engineering support to the TRISO-X fuel production facility, from research and development to system design, installation, testing, and maintenance. The role contributes to the design, assembly, testing, and maintenance of mechanical and process equipment, furthering the design and licensing of the TRISO-X Facility. This position supports the Facility & Utility design team.
Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
Create designs for various process support systems (chemical, piping, HVAC, ventilation, structural, electro-mechanical, automation and robotics).
Including load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and layout of ductwork, piping, and facility ventilation.
Contribute to a group of process engineers and facility engineers that are responsible for design, fabrication, installation, and operational support of multiple facility systems including but not limited to HVAC, process exhaust, HEPA filtration, chilled water loop, process water, process chemical supply, process gas supply, dust collection.
Support the process, facility design, and fuel development teams.
Create and document engineering designs [requirements, specifications, mechanical drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), engineering calculations, etc.].
Conduct energy modeling, simulations, and engineering calculations to enhance efficiency and sustainability, ensuring all designs meet regulatory and safety standards.
Coordinate with design teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC and other mechanical systems into the overall building design and support the development of fuel manufacturing processes.
Work with contractors to clarify design intent, resolve technical issues, and provide solutions to site challenges.
Select and order parts for process systems (motors, drives, sensors, pumps, valves, etc.).
Assemble parts to build prototype designs.
Operate process equipment to perform design verification and validation and conduct quality assurance checks and site inspections to verify work compliance, addressing any deviations or deficiencies.
Perform design engineering activities to support fuel manufacturing (reliability, maintenance, process improvement, failure analysis, cost estimation, etc.).
Develop standard operating procedures.
Develop maintenance plans for process equipment and support systems.
Participate in teams to develop standardized engineering workflows and documentation.

Develop drawings for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems, which are to be installed in commercial and residential buildings. These drawings will be produced in accordance with the building set of construction drawings, so the ability to read construction plans is a must.
Drawings must be submitted to and approved by both the OAC team (Owner, Architect, Engineer and General Contractor) and the Building Codes office. Drawings must be designed in accordance with applicable codes, so a thorough understanding of NFPA codes is necessary.
Drawings are produced using both AutoCAD and HydraCAD software in 2-D and 3-D applications.
Coordination between trades is necessary whether it be done in an old-school application or performed using BIM software in a 3-D model.
The A/S System piping must be sized based upon the available water supply. A hydraulic analysis is performed using either Hydratec or HASS software.
Fabrication lists are provided with Hydratec software. All A/S piping is prefabricated by a third-party fabrication shop and shipped to the jobsite for installation.
Work closely with the General Contractor to ensure the project is installed: In compliance with the construction drawings, on schedule, and within budget.
Drawings must be approved and fabrication lists be prepared on time in order to meet the construction schedule. Changes to the scope of the project must be identified, and change order requests must be submitted to the G.C. for incorporation into the project scope.
Work closely with our co-workers. Common material purchases will be coordinated through our shop manager. Pipe installation will be coordinated through both our field superintendent and our field crews. Change order requests will be coordinated with our sales staff.
Job site visits will be required to ensure that our installation is being installed in accordance with our approved sprinkler drawings. Job site visits will also be required to attend scheduled meetings with the General contractor.
Establish relationships with general contractors, vendors, codes officials and co-workers to establish a profitable project. We want the G.C. to look forward to working with us again. Qualifications
Requirements:
2 years of experience with AutoCAD or an AutoCAD certificate if no hands on experience
Ability to work on-site in Portland, Tennessee
Proficiency with Office products: Excel, Word & Outlook is required
Previous experience in design takeoffs of moderately complex projects
Demonstrated ability to read and understand Engineering blue prints and layouts
Ability to accurately extract and interpret details in creating technical drawings
Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques and methods
Ability to create and modify 2D drawings with a high level of accuracy
Strong professional verbal and written communication skills
Must be highly organized, efficient and able to work independently

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities
Develop drawings for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems, which are to be installed in commercial and residential buildings. These drawings will be produced in accordance with the building set of construction drawings, so the ability to read construction plans is a must.
Drawings must be submitted to and approved by both the OAC team (Owner, Architect, Engineer and General Contractor) and the Building Codes office. Drawings must be designed in accordance with applicable codes, so a thorough understanding of NFPA codes is necessary.
Drawings are produced using both AutoCAD and HydraCAD software in 2-D and 3-D applications.
Coordination between trades is necessary whether it be done in an old-school application or performed using BIM software in a 3-D model.
The A/S System piping must be sized based upon the available water supply. A hydraulic analysis is performed using either Hydratec or HASS software.
Fabrication lists are provided with Hydratec software. All A/S piping is prefabricated by a third-party fabrication shop and shipped to the jobsite for installation.
Work closely with the General Contractor to ensure the project is installed: In compliance with the construction drawings, on schedule, and within budget.
Drawings must be approved and fabrication lists be prepared on time in order to meet the construction schedule. Changes to the scope of the project must be identified, and change order requests must be submitted to the G.C. for incorporation into the project scope.
Work closely with our co-workers. Common material purchases will be coordinated through our shop manager. Pipe installation will be coordinated through both our field superintendent and our field crews. Change order requests will be coordinated with our sales staff.
Job site visits will be required to ensure that our installation is being installed in accordance with our approved sprinkler drawings. Job site visits will also be required to attend scheduled meetings with the General contractor.
Establish relationships with general contractors, vendors, codes officials and co-workers to establish a profitable project. We want the G.C. to look forward to working with us again.
