What you'll do:As a SERA Job Captain, you will leverage and hone the skills and knowledge to take a project from concept through construction. This mid-level position allows you to build on your past experience and begin focusing on roles and tasks that you're particularly passionate about. Job Captains perform a multitude of functions, from designing particular aspects within a project to creating beautiful client-facing presentations, coordinating with consultants, and leading design documentation. Why is this role important?Job Captains are at the core of a collaborative team environment, coordinating and overseeing the work of junior staff, collaborating with Project Architects, Designers and Principals, and using an array of tools, media and communication methods. Education + Experience
+ Requires a Bachelor or Master's degree from an accredited program.

+ Generally have 4 - 7 years of industry experience in an architect's office.

+ Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office Suite required.

+ Knowledge of Enscape, Lumion, Bluebeam, Rhino, Formit, and/or Sketchup preferred.

+ Ability to communicate through verbal, written and graphic communication formats.

Job Captain, Technical Designer Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree from an Accredited School or Equivalent
• 3-15 Years of Experience Post Graduation
• Project Experience in multi-family, corporate interiors, mixed-use, healthcare, education, labs, or tenant improvement, or similar
• Revit skills are required. Proficiency in adobe, sketchup, and autocad preferred
• Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external consultants and stakeholders
• Poven ability to take projects from initial programming through construction documents and permitting
• Experience with construction administration not required

Job Captain, Technical Designer Responsibilities

• Work with production team to complete schematic designs, construction documents, coordinate with designers, consultants, engineers, to bring projects through permitting
• Assist in project delivery from initial programming through to construction administration and closeout by coordinating with proper personnel
• Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, while providing top-notch service throughout
• Meet with regulatory authorities and parties as needed
• Travel to job sites as necessary to experience projects being built
• Assist with drawings, ensure accurate document preparation
• Coordinate project teams, deliver for the client, and see the project through completion
• Be coachable and learn

We are currently seeking an ARCHITECTURAL SENIOR JOB CAPTAIN to join our Salt Lake City, UT location. Working under the guidance of a senior project team member, this person will be responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, or several small projects, including the investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client's needs. Experience in Multifamily / Residential Housing is preferred . This is a hybrid role based from our Salt Lake City, UT location.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide professional architectural consultation from the end of Design Development through building permit submittal and Construction Administration
• Apply advanced architectural concepts and designs
• Review drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards
• Monitor budgets and schedules and maintain project documentation
• Submit reports and specifications as requested
• Maintain positive working relationships with clients, outside consultants and technical staff
• Supervision of technical staff and redlining others' work may be required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Proficient in building codes, understanding different product types and how the code determines how the buildings are constructed.
• Strong skills in production of construction drawings, start to finish
• Strong skills and talent in SketchUp modeling, AutoCAD, and Revit/BIM ; Adobe Design Suite experience preferred
• Experience working in construction phases of projects
• Self-motivated; ability to work independently and in a team environment to coordinate with other design professionals
• Excellent problem solver and independent thinker with good listening skills and strong follow through
• Excellent graphic, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
• Able to effectively and positively provide direction and lead architectural staff

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & CERTIFICATION:

• 4+ years' experience, with at least 3 years as a job captain required .
• Graduate of a NAAB accredited 4 or 5 year architecture school
• Commitment to their own professional growth; preferably to obtaining licensure as an architect.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without any restrictions or visa sponsorship.
