Job Summary
The Archivist will perform duties associated with digitizing original archival audio recordings, ingesting new audio recordings, troubleshooting hardware and software on backstage recording workstations and SAN. Daily ingest of new event recordings
Maintain Backstage Recording Workstations
Maintain SAN (primary Audio Archive storage system)
Maintain Archive Room Workstations
Produce repurposed audio in a variety of end formats (CD-r, MP3, 24-bit WAV files) as needed for various 92Y departments and media partners (e.g. podcasts, audible.com, itunesU,) etc.
Transfer/digitize past event recordings from reel, cassette, PCM/DBX, DAT, and DVD-Ram
Prepare annual budget for 92Y audio archive

Work Environment & Requirements
40 hours per week.
This position is approved to utilize a hybrid working model which is subject to change in the future.

Job Summary

- Copy files from Record Volume of SAN to Archive & Backup
- Rename Pro Tools session (if necessary)
- Trim, consolidate, and rename trimmed sound files in Pro Tools Session
- Discard untrimmed and blank sound files to save space
- Enter all technical metadata to the Y's events database
- Copy renamed trimmed Pro Tools session to Backup, replace raw session
- Delete raw Pro Tools session from Record Volume
Maintain Backstage Recording Workstations
- Regularly check network connection settings
- Perform software updates on Mac OS and Pro Tools software
- Delete non-work-related software
- Regularly check accuracy of in/out points and track names for tracked Pro Tools sessions
- Coordinate regular transfers of (catalogued) Pro Tools sessions from to SAN and backup volumes
Maintain SAN (primary Audio Archive storage system)
- Regularly check SAN status for drive failures

- Replace failed drives and rebuild RAID volumes as needed
- Update SAN connection software, evaluate upgrades and deploy to backstage workstations
- Maintain relationships with SNS (SAN vendor) and Tekserve
Maintain Archive Room Workstations
- Install and evaluate software updates and upgrades
- Recommend equipment and software upgrades as needed

- Work with supervisors and other department heads to plan equipment and software upgrades, expendable supply needs, maintenance, and tech support contracts
- Anticipate and recommend long-term equipment and software needs
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired
- Degree in Audio/Video Engineering, Multimedia Production, related discipline, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of audio/video archive experience, showing a progression of technical and project management skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Access a plus)
- Familiarity with enterprise-class data storage and RAID protection (Must have or be willing to acquire administrator level knowledge of the SNS SAN storage system)
- Mac OSX (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard) administration
