Equipment operator job at Arcosa
Arcosa Aggregates is seeking an Excavator Operator for our Cameron Texas Plant. In this role you will support positive safety culture in an aggregate environment that is regulated by MSHA safety standards. As an Excavator Operator you will work with a team to produce natural aggregates in a mining environment
Day to Day
* Actively promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through positive recognition
* Operate at least 3 pieces of mobile equipment (haul truck, farm tractor, water truck, rubber tire backhoe, front loader, etc.)
* Operate equipment in quarry or production
* Must have excavator, dozer and dredge experience.
* Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures, and applicable government regulations.
* Perform daily pre-shift equipment and workplace inspections to maintain equipment performance
* Maintain strong communications with other plant employees and operators
* Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
About You
* Prompt, regular, and predictable attendance
* Positive, Team-based attitude
* The ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, walk, climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks up to 60 feet as required.
* The ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* A minimum of 2 years of experience
Working Conditions
While most equipment has air conditioning, there will be times when other responsibilities may require periods of work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wet, dry, and dusty.

POSITION SCOPE
The Heavy Equipment Operator position is designated as safety sensitive, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols at all times. The operator must be proficient in operating machinery such as D8-D9 dozers and 345-352 excavators in accordance with project specifications to ensure efficient and compliant operations. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for the daily servicing and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained throughout the project duration.
The equipment operator will need to be highly skilled in navigating and operating machinery in mountainous terrain, which presents unique challenges such as pioneering access to build up extremely steep slopes, uneven surfaces, rocky mountain terrain, and potential for landslides or loose soil. Proper training in mountain-specific safety protocols, equipment handling, and environmental considerations is essential to ensure safe and efficient operations in this rugged environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test is required
Work well in a team environment
Travel will be required

Pay Rate- Starting $16 - $17 /Hr + DOE*

As an experienced Equipment Operator, after paid training, you will put your skills to work - safety operating equipment to move earth, tools and materials to and from job sites. Reporting to a seasoned Foreman, you will join a crew to get the job done right. We believe in the power of teamwork, and all crew members are expected to assist with general labor as needed.
What You'll Do
* Safely operate heavy equipment such as: skid steers, backhoe, trencher, paver, dozer, milling saw, road grater, hydro-excavator, track hoe and more
* Load and unload equipment and materials
* Maintain daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections
* Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment
* Maintain all industry-required Operator Qualifications
* Perform other tasks as requested by leadership

Work Environment

What you'll do:
* Safely operate rubber tire loader with competency and caution, and adhere to safety procedures and requirements
* Feed plant, load trucks, stockpile materials, pushup stockpiles and maintain clean yard and roadways
* Communicate on regular and continuous basis with field supervisor regarding assigned work to accomplish and specific instructions
* Use hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, screwdriver, sledge hammer, and others as needed to accomplish daily tasks to maintain and/or repair equipment
* Perform scheduled maintenance on assigned equipment (i.e., oil and filter changes, other equipment or motor repairs as necessary); notify supervisor of any deficiencies or repairs needed
* Inspect equipment and maintain written log of all equipment-related deficiencies
* Maintain housekeeping of work site including trash pickup, keeping tools in order; proper storage of equipment at end of work day
* Perform other duties as assigned or required
