Lee Hammerling is the Chief Academic Officer and President of New Ventures for ProMedica Health System. In this role, he provides executive oversight for the implementation of the academic affiliation with a local medical school, the ProMedica innovations center and incubator, development of telehealth programs and new business opportunities ventures including international business development and providing oversight and an advisory role for start up companies.

Prior to his current duties, he provided executive oversight for the development of key ProMedica service lines, including; Heart, Cancer, Orthopedics, Neurosciences, Women’s, and Vascular. Additionally, he provided executive oversight for population health, the clinical integrated network and ACO and physician contracting and compliance. From 1999 thru 2015, Dr. Hammerling also provided direct oversight for day to day operations and growth of the employed physician network currently numbering over 900 providers and as well as post-acute services, including hospice, home care, skilled nursing and long-term care, rehab services, system laboratory services and retail pharmacy.

Dr Hammerling has served on a variety of boards including a medical device start up, regional bank board, and has served and chaired boards in the healthcare delivery system.

Dr. Hammerling earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame and a medical degree from the University of Chicago Medical School.
