Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and interventional CT (Computed Tomography) procedures in accordance with professional standards and licensure.

Job Responsibilities:
Perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI Scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.
This equipment includes scanner, post processing stations/programs, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport and patient monitoring equipment.
Essential Functions: Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies. Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures.
Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions.
Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed. Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount. Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary.
Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies. Performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies.
Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures. Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules. Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies.
Documents contrast administration in the MAR. Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace. Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a MRI scan.
Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for both staff and patients while in and around magnetic fields.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program required.
ARRT (MR) required. BLS (AHA or ARC) required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be required to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the MRI department. May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.

Key Responsibilities:
The technologist competently operates magnetic resonance (MR) equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
These include routine musculoskeletal, neurological and orthopedic imaging, arthrograms, neurological angiography, body imaging, and small joint imaging.
The technologist obtains medical history from patients, compares requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy, and prepares and administers contrast media under the Radiologist's direction.

The role also includes performing patient positioning and transport duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling while using proper technique.
The technologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understand growth and development principles across the lifespan, and assess data that reflects the patient's status in order to determine age-specific needs.
Care must be provided in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, with additional age-specific details outlined in departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
A Registered Technologist (RT) credential issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
Education:
Advanced training beyond high school is required, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Experience Required:
No prior experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
The employee must have knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and magnetic safety, and be competent in IV insertion and venipuncture if required by the facility.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-service skills are essential for working effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
The individual should be able to work independently and possess intermediate computer skills.
Team members are expected to maintain all annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications such as DNV, CARF, or others, as applicable.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above the shoulders throughout the workday.
The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs overhead, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
Additional requirements include the ability to push or pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with assistance from another person.
The individual may be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and magnetic hazards, as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn.
The role requires operation of all necessary job-related equipment and the employee must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.

Submit images for any study within 1-2 days of taking a study photography set, with screening images being sent the same day.
Work with research coordinators, research assistants, and sponsors to resolve any imaging queries.
Work with IT department to resolve any hardware or software issues for any imaging device.
Be trained to perform blood draws and IV infusion for FAs, if applicable by state law

Duties:
Provide high quality diagnostic MRI imaging
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
